Not sure if this is the correct forum to post this but figured I'd ask here. Does anyone know anything about the website: http://worldofsucculents.com/ ?? I came across one of my photos on their site and noticed in tiny print at the bottom of the picture it says, photo via davesgarden.com

I'm sure that photo was in the database at DG from when I was a member over there and I'm wondering if that succulent website is perhaps owned by the same company that now owns DG? When I was a member at DG and posting my photos, I suppose I gave permission for them to use my pictures but do I have any recourse to have this other website remove my photo or at least credit me as the photo owner? It's not really a big deal but I was just surprised to see my picture without my copyright mark. I have authorized a couple of times for my photos to be used but they've always given credit to me as the owner/photographer. Did I relinquish ownership of photos I uploaded in the past to the DG site?

Are you able to remove your photos from the DG site, like we can over here? At the very least, since this succulent site is using your photo, you should at least ask that the credit line reflect and link to NGA rather than DG. Seems this copyright issue keeps cropping up.

Deb, I haven't been on the DG site in a few years, I left over there when Dave and Trish left. I will see if I can find a contact us link at that succulent site and request that they use my name on my photo. I wonder if I should check the DG site to see if my name still appears on my db photos there! Maybe they've removed everyone's copyright mark?

Yeah, I don't know anything about DG anymore either. I wouldn't mind removing all my content, but I think that is water under the bridge and likely out to sea by now!

Interesting ... I just went over to the DG site and tried to log in and got an error message that the user ID and/or password was incorrect. I can't remember what my password was over there but my username has always been plantladylin ... so I typed my e-mail address in for them to send me a link to change my password and a message came back saying that e-mail address is not present in their system!! So, I tried an old e-mail address that my husband and I both used from our cable company and got the same exact message!! We've had computers since the mid to late 1970's and those are the only two email addresses that I've ever used!!

Yeah, you are probably right. I'd love to be able to remove every trace of me over there.

The succulent site has a Contact link at the bottom. Just because they added a teeny tiny "Photo via DavesGarden' does not make it right. The copyright is quite clear "Unauthorized Use Prohibited" Just because they cropped that out does not excuse them from outright theft!
I can't find any info who owns the site, their terms do mention a copyright rules, too bad they don't use it. They do mention that the site is controlled by "Perfect Insight, Inc." which, according to several online sources, is resolved.

I personally would demand it's removal, just for the fact that they deliberately removed that copyright.

I think I will see if I can contact them through that link at their site and ask that they remove the image.

You said you weren't sure your name was on the photo there. That's why I told you it has your name on it.

I sent them an e-mail through their contact link asking them to remove my image and desist from using my copyrighted photos in the future without my authorization ... now to see if they respond.

LOL, I haven't done it in a long time but out of curiosity I googled my username (plantladylin) ... seems a lot of places use photos correctly (showing the copyright) but I found another photo of mine at a website called onlyimage.com - Free Images. The copyright with my info has been cropped out http://www.onlyimage.com/photo... but it does say below the image: Photo of the fruit of Asparagus Fern by plantladylin (All Things Plants) from onlyimage.com

I don't think that's right, they are removing images from here, cropping out copyrights, offering them up for free but this is still a business, they sell images too.
Maybe @dave needs to see that site
