I have two sprayers that have worked well and lasted, one is a 1gal. from Ortho that I got at Home Depot and the other is a 2gal. for fertilizer, since I have over 100 orchids to spray, the 2 gallons just about covers everybody nicely. It's also the most weight I want to lug around without a backpack or wheels.

For the one or two gallon pump sprayers, I like those sold at Ace Hardware.

My favorite is the 1 Ga. from Ace also, but I think I'm going to splurge on the 1 ga. Hudson next time. It has the curved end, which makes life easier, and it's well made. I looked at the 2 Ga. ones too, but they are heavier to carry, and still wouldn't finish the job, without refilling.

I don't know who makes the Ace brand but I prefer it to the Hudson. I agree about those 2 gallon sprayers, the older I become, the heavier they get.

Hi Jeff looks like you saved the Vanda. How are Dens. doing? If they are like mine I can abuse them and they just bounce right back and bloom for me with no problem. Keep up the good work and have a great day! Mike

Hi Mike !! I am seeing new healthy roots and some new leaves forming on the Dens...Thank you for asking ...I will try taking a few photos tomorrow of some of the new growth on the Dens weather permitting...The forecast has been rain, rain and more rain down here lately.. I think I'm doing everything as well as possible and it looks like eventually I will reap some rewards...Can't wait for flowers as I have no clue what colors I have...

So I have this new Red Oncidium and it appears very healthy but it is sitting in what seems a pile of mushy way to wet sphagnum Moss in a clear plastic cup with only drainage holes in the bottom...If there is any bark in it i cant find it..She has 2 flowers and 8 buds... What do y'all think should I transplant it into a better container now with better media or leave it alone...I would love to see the other buds flower but don't want the thing to die on me in the process ...

What I've done when I had a few like that is just slip it out of the plastic pot, and prop it up in a bowl, basket or something so that air can circulate around the root ball, and the moss can drain and dry out some while it finishes blooming. (that might take months since it has buds yet to open!) See if you can carefully open up some air holes in the mass of soggy moss by pulling some hunks of it out - chop sticks or small tweezers work well for this. Try not to break roots if you can help it.

Once it's done with blooming, you can take the hose to it, hose out as much of the moss as you can - there's probably a big, solid wad of it in the center under the plant's crown - and re-pot it in a slat basket or a clay pot with lots of holes. I do mix some strands of moss in with the usual orchid bark for my Oncs, but make sure it's the high quality long fiber stuff that doesn't pack and stay soggy.

Hi everyone !! This is one of my rescue Dendrobiums...I'm hoping you may be able to help me identify this new growth...Is this a spike or the beginning of new leaves?
