Hi newbie here😊 Found this growing in the garden few years ago and wonder what it could be. It loses leaves in winter. Any help appreciated.
Cheers

Hi Electricsheep! I like your name - is it from "When Androids Dream of...."?

To help us identify your tree or shrub, tell us where it is growing (country, climate zone), please.

The leaves are opposite from that last picture, so not Wisteria.

With opposite pinnately compound leaves the first thought is ash. A black terminal bud is also an ash characteristic, but I'm not 100% on matching the leaflets, in some pictures it looks like Fraxinus excelsior and in others not so much. Perhaps one of our European members is familiar with it since Electricsheep is in the UK, @JRsbugs @bonitin

It sure looks like Ash to me and European Ash (Fraxinus excelsior) is native in the UK. This page has a few good photos of stems, leaves: http://treedoctor.msu.edu/ash/...

Here's a list of UK trees with some good photos for comparison: http://www.woodlandtrust.org.u...

I don't think it is the Common Ash either, the leave surface on Electricsheep's plant looks having relief, (not flat like on Ash), and the leaf petioles look hardly existing..:

the Manna Ash (Fraxinus ornus) has relief on the leaflets but has longer petioles and is hardly noticeable serrate.

Yes, Electricsheep, I meant to say that Fraxinus ornus also cannot fit your plant, sorry I cannot help further, maybe @JRsbugs knows more..

I think it's Fraxinus excelsior, leaves seem to vary but this is a young tree. Black buds look about right, could be a cultivar.
