I have neither of these lilies, so I can only make a guess based on the Lily Register description and the photos available in the database. To me, the top one could be either (perhaps somebody who has this lily can determine which one), but I'm pretty sure the bottom one is neither.
If #1 is Lady Alice, then where's the papillae? Very heavy papillae is something Lady Alice is known for. How long are the pedicels? Is it fully reflexed? What does the foliage leading up to the scape look like? Lady Alice is a very broad and varied strain so darn near anything that looks like is called Lady Alice. We really need more pictures.
#2 is no more Mr. Cas than the man in the moon. It could be a cross from it; sometimes OT X T look like that. Or it could be an early stage Trumpet/Aurelian cross which also look like that. What does the reverse look like? And what do the physical characteristics of the overall plant look like; is it robust? Or frail? Again need more pictures.
I agree with you Lorn. Along with the one in the second picture having enough orange to be either one. But i emailed the vendor pictures of both and they think the top picture is lady Alice while the bottom one is mister cas.
Always disappointing to not get what was ordered. None of those look like the 'Mr Cas' I have growing here.
Not sure if it's relevant or not as I don't know where you got the bulbs from, but I remember reading that there were some disappointed customers of dutch 'Lady Alice' bulbs last year. Many inferior seedlings among the bulbs.
I just knew I saw this somewhere and remembered it for it's religious connotation. Guiding Light.
A little more information: 'Guiding Light' was sold by Walmart Stores this past season, 3 to a bag. It looks almost identical to the bottom one in question in your post above. This is what the Guiding Light from Walmart looks like.
