Those branches are tiny, nothing close to that size. I just wondered. I don't need more adenium or more of ANY plant for that matter. D'Oh!

Ken how are your buds doing? Mine are sad and not opening all the way. I have been told triple santa is known for this.

One looks like it might open this week. All the buds look fine so far. I don't know what "triple santa" means, Marica.

Tripple Santa is one of several Santa crosses grafted. For some reason now that I have it trying to bloom. Others are telling me about the problem they have had with these blooms. I am hoping for better next year.

Marica,
My Triple Twilight does the same thing w at least 2 or 3 buds. Not one opened yet.
I am going to check w my friends that grow them and see what response I get, hopefully to help for in the future.

This is what those buds look like this morning. The large bud is about 1.5" long. I now see four plants with buds, including the "Green Giant". By the way, the
"Green Giant" is now 27" tall and I just saw it is forming an inflo. I still see no branching though. These plants are approximately 14 mo. old. Do I just leave it be and allow it to get taller and taller? It literally dwarfs its siblings. nodding

Great to see some blooms coming for you Ken. Looks as thought that one bud should be definitely red or red on outer petals. As far as the Green Giant and letting it get taller? It has a nice base on it, it will be a matter of preference. It could manage to support itself if it continues to grow, but it may start to bend over also.
I have taken tall ones and pruned them just down from the a top and I do not like them, so I tend to prune down low close to the caudex. It is all personal preference.

Ken, I started to prune the parent, when it got too tall to be carried through door frames and looked like it was going to hit the ceiling eventually. It did branch lower on the stem by itself, but branched just fine when I cut it regularly.

OK, thank you all for the advice. At some point I will have to manage its size. With all my plants, indoor space becomes a real concern during the fall and winter months.

One bud opened up four days ago and now another plant's bud has opened. The flowers look exactly the same on both plants.

As of now, there will be five plants with buds/blooms. All the buds are developing the same coloration, so I looks like all these flowers will be the same.

By the way, can a plant be shipped (2-3 days transit) and the buds survive? I can do so with orchids but never shipped an adenium.

I received one earlier this year (shipped domestically - from CA, I think) that had buds. Some survived, some didn't. So, I think it's a craps shoot that depends a good deal on the care & climate at destination as well as how it's packed and time in transit. So, lots of variables that all boil down to ...maybe?? Blinking

After five years of shipping plants, I kind of have a handle on that. I ship over 300 boxes of them each year. When I ship budded/blooming orchids, I pack them especially careful. Since I was told to cut off all the leaves before packing adenium (don't even know whether that's good advice), I just didn't know about the buds. The buds I see look pretty fragile.

Ken, if I were a such a master plant packer as you are, I would not worry about leaves or buds. I would simply pack them as you would normally do. Some leaves and buds might survive, some not. But if you already cut stuff off, you will surely have a blank stem with open sores to invite all sorts of things.
Don't sweat it, Ken!

OK, no sweat here. Whistling I should have known the answer to my question. D'Oh! Did you see the photos of three of the plants' caudices/roots?

I got a 10yr old adenium shipped from St Louis, It had buds but lost them. Then 2wks later I now have several buds again. The lost leaves are slowly coming back.

How long did it take from the time you get the buds to the time they open?
