Of course it could be the gnomes too!

Lestv said:You know, maybe it is the iris themselves doing this. The drug isn't in the water, it is in their scent. Once it penetrates your brain you are hooked. There really is truth to the "iris virus".

Hilarious!

Soooooo... you are saying that it is iris scents that are causing our lack of sense/cents????

Rita and I always pick up "trash" when we go on our walks, and there is always plenty to pick up Glare . It amazes me that , often, just a bit past the spot the slobs throw their cans.....there's a trash can Shrug! ! As if a few more steps would kill them !

Cans are usually not a big problem. What irks me the most is all the idiots who order take out, eat it in their cars, then leave the bag with all the take out trash in the middle of the street. I have wanted the opportunity to throw that bag back in their cars.

When I was a principal, our safety patrol used to go out and pick up cans (and trash) to raise money to go to their annual event. They would get people to sponsor them for a penny or two per can and they would go out on the road ways and pick them up. They would often on one night fill a pickup truck bed with cans. Not only did it help teach them the importance of keeping trash where it belongs, it was pretty good PR for people to see young kids out picking up along the roads.

GreenIris said:I love this thread and have been meaning forever to get my 3 I am watching posted: I'll call them
The Good: Thumb of 2016-10-19/GreenIris/ff5fd7 (A Burseen gift named Spring Starter that I just planted this summer - Quite the Chunky Monkey - yes?).
The bad: Thumb of 2016-10-19/GreenIris/12be2f (Going Dotty which I planted this Summer) This isn't bad because the vendor gave me a bad plant but I planted it in an established garden and then forgot I planted it there so I didn't water it for a week or so and get those roots going. The Rhizome is hard so I really hope it makes it. I have waited a long time to see it.
The Ugly: Thumb of 2016-10-19/GreenIris/46dacb (This is Inner Darkness - If you can see it in the middle, It has rot). This also is not the vendors fault. I stepped on this at one point and then at some point the Rhizome got covered with a layer of soil. I was weeding near it one day and reached down and found jelly - Ugg! But I read what someone else posted about just uncovering the rhizome and exposing the rot to the sun. Since it had the increases on the side, this seemed like the best option. And so far, it is doing OK But I am definitely watching...

Here are new pics of the The Good, The Bad and The Ugly...

-The Good is getting even bigger (though Freeze is coming so that will change soon),
Thumb of 2016-11-28/GreenIris/db31ea
-The Bad (though unless blown up some, this pic will have a hard time showing it, there is life = Yay. There is a new bud coming out at the very bottom.)
Thumb of 2016-11-28/GreenIris/694d73
-The Ugly is still growing just fine after it's bout with rot.

I had my first bout of rot. Spendthrift's mother went custardy on me, and
one of the two increases died. Hopefully the other one will respond to today's drastic surgery.
This is the first time my potted plants have been exposed to so much rain.

Yes, Jan hope for the best for your Iris. The one in my pics looks like it will be fine but I have had others in previous years that I just could not stop the rot on.
