What's blooming in your Southeastern garden?

This red hot Ruellia brevifolia is blooming happily in the equally red hot temperatures!

White swamp hibiscus paired with snake cotton... plus some sand wasps...

Here are some blooms from the garden this morning, and some non-blooms also.

My roses have looked awful this year, just mulched the bed yesterday with compost and hope to get them looking better. I have truly neglected them this year. Thanks for saying so anyhow!

All of your photo's are lovely but I'm a sucker for roses I think yours are beautiful!

Coleus are blooming well, which the little skipper butterflies in particular just adore.


I've put bits of ornamental purslane (Portulaca umbraticola) everywhere, on the ground and in the air.




Zinnias are blooming well but still look like hell. The flowers look great but the plants keep dying quickly from some kind of bullseye spots on the leaves.

Isn't it weird how they do that? My hydrangeas are bloomed much earlier too.

I wanted to pop in and say hi. I CANNOT believe I have daylilies blooming in Aug. I don't think I 've ever had rebloom this late before.
I got strawberry gomphrena in a trade this spring and it 's still going strong even after dry July. Oh Larry, my Mexican sunflower is blooming. You remember I was fretting over it being a short plant, well it can look me in the eye now.
Hedychium gingers are putting on their display, some cannas. My castor plant set seed, I had to get a 10 ft ladder to pick them.
Profusion zinnia are magnificent.

More purslane, Dianthus, purple heart (Tradescantia pallida.)


An orchid is blooming again. Got in Feb or March on clearance, was on its' last flower at that time.


And seeing buds on purple scimitars (Tripogandra serrulata) and creeping Charlie/Swedish ivy (Plectranthus verticillatus.)

Kitties eating corn and watermelon... Omnivorous kitties.
