scflowers said:I know what you mean, Pam. I bid on stuff to get some new genetics, but I always set a limit for what I'm willing to spend. It amazes me sometimes to see the price skyrocket, sometimes even far more than what the parent plants are even worth. That's when I figure that it is just a bidding war between two (or sometimes more) people that have loads of money. So I sit back and watch the show and wonder what they do for a living to pay upwards of $25, $50 or sometimes more per seed!
I bid against someone on there last year for some seeds when I was just learning how everything worked. Now that person runs up every single one of my bids when possible. It's usually only by a few bucks, because I do have my limits, but it pisses me off to know that I seem to have to pay more every time I want to bid. I notice that this person doesn't get bid against very much, so I think he/she probably employs this practice to their advantage. The bad thing is, you can't really prove it, so there's nothing that can be done
I've even bid on some older stuff just to see...and sure enough, the person bid against me on all three very random bids. I hope they enjoyed them

That is horrible! I wanted to acknowledge your post, but didn't want to give it a "thumbs up". This is when we need a thumbs down or dislike icon!!
