A bit confused here... Which one is it? Or, is it?

Hi Evan, thanks.
After I posted this here I realized I probably should have posted to the plant photos forum instead?

If that is the case, my apologies, and should it be moved? *Blush*

I did write in and say I had this wrong. That is all I will say on that. I do not have the ins and outs posting or removing figured out. But I will ask the Experts to remove my posts, and happily. I am sorry to have found My Elija Blues are not all Elija Blues, here in front of you all.

It is Beyond Blue. But under these circumstances, I would not take my word for it either. I only just realized I have two varieties of Blue Fescue, and it has been a long slow realization as these plants are just so very similar, but different.

I purchased 7 of them all at the same time under the name Elijah Blue. All tags just said Blue Fescue. They had to find two more in the back for me, and I believe that is where the slip occurred.

As small plants adjusting to my landscape I noticed right away the plants were dissimilar but it honestly is so slight, I chalked it up to culture, as some got more shade, some more water. Some got lovely amended holes, and some were not as lucky. It has only been last season and this season, I really became committed to deciding what was up with my grasses.
They are so easy to move that last year I purposely put ones I suspected were different, just a foot apart, in 4 different locations in the flower beds. Side by side, one would remain upright with straight blades a foot away the other was lounging along the soil in a soft sleepy mound. After a few trips to nurseries, where I compared their Beyond's to their Elijas, I felt confident, that Beyond Blue, which I never heard of was in my yard.

I am so sorry about this, and assure you I do not own anything that is so similar that I could make this embarrassing mistake again. I think the best thing to do is to remove all my fescue entries. I was crabby with the nursery for yet another mix up, because I am obsessive about knowing the name of my plants, even my weeds. I hate to have been a source of confusion, leaving some to feel the way it feels when we realize the nursery mislabeled a plant again, and I am less than certain what I am growing.

From what I can see, I am not able to remove these on my own, but will request it today. Perhaps someone can start a thread asking for pics of Elija, and pics of Beyond as a way to assist people feeling they have a good id of their plants.

Sorry all. I love it here, I hope I don't get kicked to the curb. Crossing Fingers! It was a realization for me that unfolded while new here. I love looking at others plant lists. The reality is, I believe I know what is what, but I would really feel better if your verification came from others who have not had an issue with id as I have.

My sons and their sig others drove down from Everett, so I please allow me to take care of this as soon as they settle in and I have a some time to myself.

Laurie! Thumbs up

As I was looking at your pictures, I noticed that they do in fact appear to be 2 different varieties, and wasn't sure, if that was the case, that a comment to that effect could be made in the caption of the picture. Such as the one on the left is.../The one on the right is... Shrug!

With all of the tags stating simply Blue Fescue, I don't see any need to "delete" your pictures, but maybe just move them to the more "generic" entry for the plant... Blue Fescue (Festuca glauca)

Things like this very easily happen all the time! I purchased a plant that said Dracaena fragrant 'White Jewel', when in fact, after posting the picture, and receiving 2 acorns, *Blush* I found from another member that in fact it wasn't 'White Jewel', but 'Lemon Surprise'. Then had to have our wonderful admins move the picture for me.
No harm, no foul!

Blinking Absolutely no reason to be "kicked to the curb"! Group hug
If it was, I, and many others would be long gone!!! Smiling

We are all learning, all the time, both our ways around these forums, and around our gardens. A big wonderful family, just trying to help each other along our gardening
journey. Lovey dubby Group hug

Don't feel bad or apologize, Laurie. This has happened to all of us. I sure made a lot of mistakes, and probably still will! That's how we all learn. Keep on sharing by posting and submitting photos.

I agree, I recently purchased a little Dracaena labeled 'White Jewel' only to get it home and notice that I had another one that was identical ... now I have two Dracaena 'Jade Jewel' plants. Green Grin!

I must admit though that sometimes I totally forget exactly what plants I have around here. I'll be out at a nursery and spy something and say to myself "Oh, how pretty, I must get one!" Then I get home and ... *Blush* oops, I already have one of those. I can't tell you how many times I've ended up with duplicates and triplicates of the same exact plant. I'm really getting old! LOL, a couple of months ago I posted photos to the database at the entry for Snowberry (Chiococca alba) and one recent evening I was out in the yard and realized (from the heavenly fragrance) that the shrub was Night Blooming Jasmine (Cestrum nocturnum) and thought to myself "didn't I put pictures of this shrub in the database under Snowberry?" They look a lot alike but sure enough, I'd uploaded them to the wrong entry. D'Oh!

I'm getting so old that I will stare at a plant that I've known for 45 years and yet for the life of me I can't remember the name of it. Thank goodness for the Plant ID Forum here on garden.org. I'd really be lost without some of the wonderful plant identifiers who've helped me out and jogged my ole' brain on many occasions! Lovey dubby

I love it here guys. Thanks, I appreciate your stories and the spirit with which you have shared them here for me.
I am going to look into removing those asap, but at the moment I have company in the other room that popped in, and they are notorious for staying a looooooooooooooooong time. Sad

Laurie, please just ask the admins to move them...Don't remove them... It's a great picture, and I love the fact that it shows 2 different varieties of the same plant! Thumbs up
