I am looking at adding a few. Which are your favorites and do they grow/increase well. Rebloom?

I have Clown Parade & can't say enough good about it. Good multiplier, healthy foliage & bloom scapes, lots of blooms that last for a long time. If I had a complaint, it is that it isn't listed as a rebloomer-although it did rebloom for me. Everyone who sees it wants it, I've had to divide it so many times it just can't really develop into a real clump. I can imagine how great it would be as a clump though.

I planted Asheville Summer Breeze and Asheville Pink Lady this spring as my first two Selman daylilies. They were both exemplary performers, with good form, reliable opening and clean, saturated color. My next one will probably be Asheville Jitterbug, after it's been distributed a bit.

Skipper, Selman is Bob Selman of Blueridge Daylilies in the mountains of NC outside Ashville. His place is phenomenal and his intros are the best. I could be prejudiced since he is only about 4 hours away.

Liz, thanks for the input. Which ones do you grow? I plan on getting to the area sometime next year. I have always wanted to tour the Biltmore Estate so why not in daylily bloom time??

I wish I could see more of his plants in person. That's the problem with many hybridizers: their plants are not well distributed. While I like Clown Parade, I do believe its fans overstate its appeal. This summer it was awful, but so were many other things. The Selman intros are high priced, and stay that way for some time, which does not encourage trying them. Blue Ridge does have a reputation for sending nice divisions. I often wonder why there are never any awards (even an HM) for the Selman plants. Maybe judges just don't see them enough. Well, those are just a few of my thoughts.

Bob has just started to add his cultivars to the awards ballot. You'll be seeing more awards from him in the future. I've visited there a few times and his cultivars are very well grown. Also, they look just like the pictures, which is more than I can say about cultivars of some others! I wish I had more room to grow more of his, and particularly like his "alien" series. Only two of his plants grow here now, and they both grow well.

About 75% of the Daylilies I grow came from Bob Selman and I can't say enough good things about him as a vendor--think he is one of the best...but I don't have any that he hybridized. Bad me. Hilarious! Hilarious!

Bob's flowers are as true to his pictures and descriptions as I have found once they adapt to your garden. I get overwhelmed when visiting his place so much beautiful eye candy.

Grow Autumn Summer Jewel, Asheville, White Winged Dove, Blessing in Disguise, Dragon Piñata, Fiesta Latina and Petticoat Government.
Having trouble finding my pics for this year.

Happy Friday.

The only Selman daylily that i have is Louise Lemly. It is a true clear lavender bloom as described and blooms very nice. I also really like his Asheville series daylilies but I don't own any at this time.

I'm a garden judge and visit Bob's garden every year to see what performs well since we are in the same region and he grows a lot of cultivars....not only his own but other hybridizer's plants as well. His garden is at a higher elevation than mine and closer to a zone 6 climate because he has more snow and harsher conditions. I've never seen daylilies grown better than Bob grows them!! Everything is well watered and rust free with flawless foliage and many of his cultivars have followed me home over the last 10 years. Bob is very generous in what he sells....gives a hefty division of what you purchased plus generous gift plants. The reason you don't see many awards is because Bob is very modest and didn't nominate his plants until recent years. But ALL of his introductions are very award worthy because he has very strict standards on what he introduces. He has some of the best plants I've ever seen under those faces that are exactly as pictured. Plus they are hardy in our wonky freeze/thaw weather!!! He has Facebook specials for bargain hunters so check out his Facebook page that can been seen even if you aren't a member of Facebook. I've mail ordered from him, too.....he gives fast shipping and has good communication each and every time. You will not be disappointed with anything you get from Bob Selman.

I ordered ALIEN GALAXY and LAVENDER AURA from Bob in two different orders last year. Generous divisions and very nice bonus plants! Both bloomed for me this year (I can't say that with all my new plants) and they were both outstanding! ALIEN GALAXY was very pods fertile, and I am picking the pods as we speak...which is also a nice bonus on a new plant.

I will absolutely order from them again!

Love his daylilies, I have purchased several over this past year, and all have done well, I just received my 20 clumps of five, about a week ago, and got them in the ground, and already have signs of new growth. This is the 1st place I look when I go shopping now. I have purchased from other places, and have to wait a full season for signs of growth. When I visited them this past summer on vacation, (end of June) we purchased several, and traveled with them over a week, got home finally, got them in the ground, and several actually bloomed. Wonderful!!!

Hi, Chris
Thanks for posting your list Hurray! Hurray! I have to amend my soil because it is such heavy clay soil. I think I could make a clay pot!
