Thanks Sharon,
I have learned it from an American stained glass artist (master) that lived in a town near by, at that time he whas 91 years old, and im his last student. Think he whas the most difficult person but also the most important person in my live. Did gett al his tools and machine,s after four years of study and the quote now you know how to work with glass and i cant learn you nothing else.
So i have learned it the hard way ,tiffany , stained glass , paint burning etc , thought at start that it whould take a year , but he always told me your finised when i say you are.
The butterfly doors whas one of my last things he made me make, took a lot of time to make the pattern for it because right angled he didnt allow in these sliding doors.
Also had to rebuild the livingroom for the doors

Beautiful doors Ferenc.
I am a traditionalist nd really appreciate the attention to detail doing and genuine leaded glass work. There just isnt any substitute as far as I am concerned.

Great photos everyone.

He made me do the pattern for it 3 times over, in the first two i had some right angled pieces of glass in it , he just mumbled do it over told you so I dont whant to see none right angled piece,s he never told me that my sliding doors where my graduate and the finish of my studie.
Took me about a month to make the doors incl 3 x pattern , only worked on them after my mundane day job, about 3-4 hours a day.
Every piece of glas is hand cut, believe me the round piece,s are difficult to make becausse they had also to be the same size.

Yes, he must have been a most difficult taskmaster, but look what you gained as an end result.....will you tackle anything this large again?

Well I am going to tell you something Ferenc. I've seen a lot of stained glass doors, and I even have a full stained glass door on my front entry door, btw, mine has all right angles...lol! But none of them look as pretty as that set of doors you did. You did an excellent job on it and you should be very proud.

My goal on my stained glass door was different though. I wanted lots of bright light flooding in. So all the glass is clear, but it has different patterns in the glass itself. Not sure how to say this, some pieces have ridges, some are wavy, some are beveled, different forms of glass, but all clear. I'll have to take a picture of it one of these days. And I am not as talented, so I did not make my custom door, but I sure paid big bucks to the guy who did!! Would love to see more of your work Ferenc, since I love stained glass so much Smiling Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! I tip my hat to you. I tip my hat to you. I tip my hat to you.

Ok, working from home today, so finally had time to get pictures of my stained glass door up. Please understand, this is no where near as pretty as Ferenc's. I didn't want colored glass, because I wanted bright light and sun in the room. In the winter when the sun is at it's lowest the beveled glass shoots wonderful rainbows all over the room, really looks neat. Anyway...here is my simple but beautiful non-stained glass, stained glass door.

The whole door, sorry, hard to see because the light is so bright coming through the door, and even with the flash on, can't see the door very well itself. I painted the door a nice glossy white.

Just the glass, so you can see the different patterns better. The clear glass with no pattern is beveled. That is what projects into the house some neat rainbow patterns in the winter. The door faces south.

Close up of the different pieces of glass and their patterns. The little itty bitty squares showing through are the security screen door.

Beautiful, Alan. Ferenc has rather Nouveau and you have rather Deco. I'm very affected by weather and the quality of light, loving dappled light coming through the windows...I can imagine how much joy you get from the light coming through the door. Thanks for showing us.

I enjoy light period. It's very hard for me to draw shades or curtainss shut. Smiling It almost never happens. I have shade screens on the windows, so that keeps prying eyes from looking in, but I can see out very well. Life is good Smiling

Alas, I have no stained glass to share...only the light coming through the trees right now. I did not create it, yet it makes me happy....

uh oh...lol! Is that good or bad Ferenc? ;) Sherry, your environment is beautiful. I have that in my front yard, which is very small, with just two trees. In the back yard, I'm still working on it, and my tree's are still growing to get there....lol! All the shade you can get is a blessing in Arizona deserts!

There ya go...you just keep adding on to make places for more doors or windows.

Alan, that's good if it's small, you don't need as many trees. I lived in Arizona for two years, you need all the trees you can squeeze in. Shade makes all the difference in the world to me.

Great photos of stained glass. I really miss my other house. Moved in with DD and SIL 4 years ago. My old house was Arts and Crafts bungalo.I loved the stained glass details.Nothing reallu outstanding just around windows either side of the fireplace and glass front door.

Jo Ann, those have always been my favorite homes, the old Arts and Crafts bungalow with the big porches, and all that wonderful wood work,...just love them. We don't have very many of them in Phoenix, because metro-Phoenix is such a new city. Also almost no Victorian homes....sigh!

Sherry, I have 12 trees in my back yard, some of them are smaller tree's and won't provide much shade, but they are functional for fragrance, color, fruit, or all three =)
