I just got some copper plate/dish looking trays. See photo. I am thinking about using them as hanging table feeders for birds, dust baths for birds...or???

Does anyone have ideas about how to close/cover the holes?

Other ideas?

You could use a clear caulk. Most of them are waterproof and would work to make them into bird feeders. Those are gorgeous! I can't wait to see what you create. Be sure to update with some pics for us!

Yeah...jumped on them quickly! They were $0.50 each. I couldn't believe it.

I hadn't though of caulk. I'll have to check on toxicity issues but that would work quickly.

If for bird food, maybe even a perfect fitting screw and washer or bolt and washer.

Yes, please show us what you do!

If for bird food you might want to leave the center hole or only screen over it for drainage purposes. You could also make a tin roof for it. When it rains, and water stays on the food (even if for a short time) it is a smell you will remember and hard to clean out! They are a beautiful and fantastic buy! Many blessings towards your creative endeavors!

I hadn't thought of that, but if you screened it, the food would stay fresher. That moldy seed smell is pretty awful, and it can't be good for the birds!

Has anyone seen copper or brass chain and copper or brass screw-eye bolts (smaller)?

One other thing: If it's too pricey, buy cheap steel chain and spray it with Rustoleum copper spray paint.

How about using the larger plate as the roof and the smaller plate as the dish for a bird feeder. Then run a long blot through both holes and apply some nuts and washers to hold it together. You can slip a wire to hang it up with under the bolt head (or washer) before you tighten it up.

If you don't want to hang it up, you can you leave the bottom threads exposed to screw into a post. Or drill a hole through a board and apply a nut on the bottom of the board to lock it all in place.

I just found this photo on Google on what the bird feeder would look like.
