My Orchids had a good Summer vacation in the cage and they may enjoy it for another two weeks! Then they have to be moved back into their indoor location. It will take me about two weeks to move all my plants inside, Orchids, C&S, and odds and ends.
But for today, let me start with some blooms in the cage:

Dendrobium Luz del Dia 'Kiilani' starts up, this one usually keeps going until Spring. (I had shown it already at the end of August, but we need a bright picture to show up in the line up.... )

This little Neofinetia falcata (Suikaden?) was not doing well on its old mount, so I moved it in the Spring. Normally this one blooms around June for me.

The Phrag Sorcerer's Fire just keeps shooting out spikes, I am not complaining.

Jumellea comorensis, the blooms have a nice scent, a bit cinnamony.

This little Darwinara / Vandachostylis Charm ' Blue Bird' opened a third spike this Summer, well spaced out.

More blooms on the Pot./Bc Hoku Gem 'Sunspots', always an easy bloomer

This little Tolumnias blooms on and off

And there are first blooms this season on the Habenaria erichmichelii.

I'm on the lookout for a Hoku Gem to replace the one from my original collection...all eyes on deck as you go to the shows in your area! ...and that Phrag.Sorcerer's Fire is stunning! When it sends out more spikes..do they come from the base of the plant?..or in-between the leaves? I am really enjoying the continuous blooming of my Phrag. Umbriel. It's currently on bloom 3 and 4 with what looks like another bud on the way. The reason I ask about your spikes is that now I see something coming up from the base of the plant and just assumed it was the next plant emerging, like the Oncidiums do.

Lindsey, the new spikes emerge from the center of the plant/fan and then just produce subsequent blooms on that same spike. Yes, new plants emerge from the base of the plant!

Great start to the month, Ursula. I wish I could grow Phrags.

Thanks Jim! Btw this particular Phrag doesn't seem to be bothered by temps in the nineties. My Phrag Jason Fisher on the other hand keeps on producing deformed tiny blooms. That one definitely waits for cooler weather.

Beautiful Phrag flowers there Lindsey. We're standing in the wings waiting to see if you can keep it alive for a year or two.

Speaking of standing in the wings, I was just thinking that the rain on the leaves outside sounded like applause in a concert hall - well, now it's a prolonged standing ovation! The rain bands are whipping us but the edge of the big rainy mess is still offshore.

I'm growing it indoors in a window that would be suitable for African Violets..the window sill is exactly the height of a Yellow Labrador Retriever's wagging tail..

Alcra. Hilo Ablaze 'Hilo Gold' HCC/AOS continues to open her slightly goofy flowers and enjoying being back outside this afternoon.

That is a strange looking bloom but I really like it.

During all of this commotion, Rhyncholaeliocattleya [Rlc.] Taiwan Queen 'Golden Monkey' opened.

Coming back from Pennsy and see "who" opened in the meanwhile? It is the Overseer, craning his neck to see everything!

What an interesting bloom! The "Overseer"!!! Yes I can see why you call it that! Very neat!

The flower is interesting but that foliage is totally cool.

And unusual!

I had a plant like that years ago and lost it during a vacation. Ever since then I had been looking for another one. I got this one last year and I am happy to see this beautiful spike. I love this one!!

Regarding the close up, perhaps the Overseer turns into Killer Clown from outer space?

Had to take this one outside to get a decent picture of it.They say the spike should be staked, but I love the arching/cascading cymbidiums.Hope you do too.

This one looks like it is supposed to cascade! Such a nice one too!
