I assume this is the one Hetty meant, it's the one I avoided clicking on anyway @dave

Ok never mind, I found it.

It was allowed because they linked to a https site, but I was only blocking regular URLs. I'm updating my code to also not allow https site links, too. So that won't happen again.

Has there been a problem with new people posting photos that warrants a time restriction? I was following a thread where a new person was trying to post a photo of a plant he had a question about, but he was unable to do so for about a week. He jollied along with the restriction and was finally able to post his photo, but it felt a bit unwelcoming to me. I'm not a big fan of high security I guess - I'm always amazed when folks lock their vehicles in my driveway.

Yes, there has been a problem with spammers signing up to post their spam links.

There was a bug that wasn't allowing new members to post photos. Thankfully one of them contacted me about it, and I fixed that problem.

I could understand restricting links but the photos was a bit of a mystery to me. Thanks for the clarification (and fix).

@Dutchlady1,

The link the member gave was a shortened URL that he shortened with Google's URL shortening service. It is very common practice to shorten long URLs. You can see where a URL goes to by using this site:

http://urlxray.com/

From there you can check whether if the link is malicious by submitting the URL to VirusTotal.

https://virustotal.com/en/

The link may still be malicious though, as VirusTotal may not be 100% accurate.

Thank you. I err on the side of caution, generally.

I think Dave's restriction might not work in edit mode. She edited that post and may have added the link during the edit.

Yes, editing the post is the way to bypass it. I'll update the system to include the restriction in the edits area, as well.
