Easy to do when there are entries with and without species names. I find it easier to search by cultivar names.

I am getting better at double checking by scrolling through the genus names for the plant I am looking for. I try to use both genus and cultivar in the same search. If that doesn't come up with the plant I scroll through the genus to make sure it isn't under something just a little different.
That's how I found the duplicate for the Anemone. It already had a bunch of great photos, so I didn't add anymore to it.

Now I am concerned that I am adding to many photo's. I added three to the Anemone because there was only one there and apparently that discouraged some one from adding anymore. I didn't think I was over doing it. The hosta data base is pretty empty and I have added several photos to some specific hosta where there were no pictures. Will this discourage some else from adding a picture? Perhaps I should go back and eliminate all but one or two and add less in the future. Sorry.

No no, add as many as you want, we want beautiful, colorful entries! Maybe one image captures a different angle than another, or the bloom coloring might be slightly different than someone else's photo, showing a variance. Personally, the more pictures, the better! It shows that it grows in different areas and if there are lots of photos from several members, it shows that it's a loved plant by many!

Paul, I didn't add mine because the ones you entered are far better than the one I was going to enter. Your photos are awesome. Don't stop.
My poor bloom had seen better days and I was happy to see such lovely blooms when I went into that entry. Keep up the great work. Hurray!

I agree, the more pictures, the better. Consider adding shots other than just a blossom, too. It's nice to see some of the whole plant, some of how it fits into a garden bed too. And don't forget seeds and seed pod images. I think they're very valuable additions, and this is the time of year to get those shots. Seedlings too! You might find volunteers popping up in your garden now- get those shots, too.

And.... if you're adding images of things that you've grown in your own yard or home, consider adding some data and comments as you add your pictures. If you've grown it, you must know at least some factoids about the plant.

Here's an example of what I meant. This page shows how the database can cover all bases. There's data, a personal comment, images of close ups of blossoms, a color riot of whole plants by Paul, a new bud by bonitin, and a seed pod, seeds, and seedlings by yours truly. I think that's a page that's close to ideal.
