Just cut down an old tree, want to plant bulbs around the base but not sure what would be the easiest to grow.... Normally a pretty simple answer I'm sure, but my concern is that the tangled root system from the old tree may inhibit the growth of bulbs, so I want to select the right flowering bulb for this situation. Any recommendations?

Daffs should be fine. Since the tree has been cut down you could add some soil to build it up and then plant.
