Worse than a foot photo - my DH regularly takes photos of me without my head! Lucky I'm not the overly sensitive type.. Hilarious!

Arrived back in France last night - happy to see that Rosalie Figge is still in bloom (she's been almost non-stop this year) and one of rhizomes I planted in September, Blyth's Lording It, already has a bloom stalk. Big Grin

I think I will buy again from Robert Piatek, because all the rhizomes he sent me are really flourishing, with loads of increases - perhaps it's coming from the cold in Poland to the warmth of Menton? Smiling

As it is a hobby, not his job, it is great to encourage him & from his photos, the irises are lovely. Do you grow SDBs? He evidently works with them also.

I planted my first SDBs (and other medians) earlier this year, largely a result of seeing photos here. I'm excited to see the first blooms - so far they seem to be increasing even faster than the TBs. So thanks for the tip, Lucy, I'll check out Robert's SDBs as well. Thumbs up

Rocky Top Garden has some of his TB seedlings here, but the owner doesn't do much with SDBs so we won't have those.

We had heavy frost a couple of times the last two week and snow in the mountains. Thumb of 2016-11-18/sunnyvalley/9092ab

I thought that would be the end for my rebloomers but Immortality and Lovely Again seem to be coping. Blessed Again and Mariposa Autumn have been showing colour for a while now.

The slightly warmer temps the last two days gave MA a little boost and today...

I have a couple more with stalks but fear its too late for them unless it warms up again.

I thought the snow had gotten it, but what a shock today to see Patty Ann bloom for the first time. We had 65-68 degree temps, but a cold front is coming. Snow is on its way...time for the real Michigan weather. I took one last whiff of iris...until the spring.

Hurray! technically i have a rebloomer that opened this a.m. it is the first iris to grace my garden in zone 10a. it's 'saxon' a bonus from nola's sent in late july (potted). it wasn't in the "db". so i did submit a photo this afternoon.

some of the photos were taken in sun, others in shade. it looks like a soft, self buttercream yellow color.

i will have to let y'all know next year how it performs as a rebloomer. there were 5 blossoms on the central stalk, and two bloomed together; the other 3 flowers much smaller.

Sharlene and Lindsey, great to see those buds endured the cold! Thumbs up It often surprises me how much cold they can tolerate.

Daphne, love that soft creamy color!

We've had 2 days of really heavy rain and storms - sadly the Rosalie Figge blooms are now all a soggy mess, but there are still some unopened buds and another new stalk. And Lording It has survived nicely and is showing a bit more colour at the top of the buds. It will be my first bloom on Lording It, so I'm hoping it opens before I go back to England on Saturday morning. Crossing Fingers! It's still pretty warm here (well, 65 F), when I arrived a few days ago it was 70F.

Woops wrong thread. I'll put it where it belongs.

At this time, Daughter of Stars, Clarence and one NoID have buds with color but I fear that with temps in the 30's at night lately, they won't make it.
Here's a pic of Daughter of Stars with two bloom stalks:

@cliftoncat Mika - guess what I discovered today - one of the NOID iris that you sent me is sending up a stalk Hurray!
A rebloomer?
Sadly, it probably won't get the chance to develop and bloom this late in the season - will have to wait until next year to find out what it is (along with the other NOID's)

That's a shame, Sharlene! I have a similar but different problem here - one of my new irises, Lording It, sent up a bloom stalk - here's a photo I took today:

Sadly, I have an early flight back to London tomorrow morning, so unless it hurries up, I'm going to miss it. Sad

Seeing that bud, I could just imagine a stunning contrast so I had a quick look at the data base pics - amazing colour combination! But I think you are right - unless you can inject it with some special 'quick bloom hormone' I doubt if you'll see it open.
Have a good flight back - obviously not Lufthansa other wise you might just your bud open Hilarious!

That's so disappointing Mika! I just got Lording It this summer and I am dying to see it in person. Do you have a kind neighbor that would be willing to take a picture for you?

Back at the airport... my flight is 15 mins delayed - could be worse. The good news is that I dashed into the garden first thing and found that Lording It had listened to my pleas to open before I left:
