I will likely be one of the very last to send my seeds. None of them were packaged going into this, so I've been making labels and filling requests since trading ended. It's not so bad as this is my tiny window of free time until I have to sow my first batch of pepper seeds. This year, that's right after the mailing deadline. It's actually going fairly quickly and I've even been able to attack some of the un-threshed seed that wasn't in the swap. I have a LOT of that, probably 30 varieties of basil, lettuces, sorrel and the like. Small seed that takes a bit of work. I'll be in much better shape for fall trading and I'm SO excited that Ella's going to host the Hog Wild Swap again!

Thanks so much Alana for inviting me! And tremendous thanks to Dave for all of the technical work! Thank You!
Grazie a tutti!

I would probably be willing to host a cuttings swap after I've participated in one.

Thanks All!

I know Duane has already mailed his package out.

@lovesblooms, do you have a few extra seeds to share? I can send you something in exchange if you would like.

Sent my package out today. Smiling It's hard to believe that it's almost time to start planting seeds but it is!! This year might be one of those hard to wintersow years, since we're having such unpredictable weather! We went from 14°F low three days ago to 74°F high today!

For anyone interested, this site has some really good wintersowing info, I think ~ http://wintersown.org/

If I do I will certainly include them. I may have only a couple left over from the number committed to the person who wanted them, though, so I won't ask for anything extra from you.

Lisa,

I feel your pain. I am VERY organized (and I'm sure you are too), but I'm ALSO missing 2 different packs of seeds and it's driving me crazy. It was 3, but i found the 3rd. I have all my seeds filed A-Z and the bought or listed ones later, I put in a box to keep all together so this wouldn't happen. do you think the seed thief is making the rounds!?!

I am going to contact the 2 people whose pack of seeds I cant find.
I will mail them if/when I find them. Honestly, this drives me NUTS.

Alana, THANKS SO much for hosting. It was a great swap, and can't wait to do it again (oh, and get my seed pack!) LOL! Thank You!

I wanted to do this with some of my seeds as well, but this fluctuating weather is nuts! Dropping to low twenties a few days ago to 80 today Blinking I think I will go ahead and spread the poppies directly. Will this thread stay open to discuss our new seed growing experiences from this swap or do we need to head over to the threads that that seed pertains to?

Val, I hit that wall in around 1/3rd to 1/2 of all swaps I participate in.

As if packets evaporate between the time we count them, and the time we pack them into mailers.

All you can do is offer alternates and ask for a home address so you mail them separately once you do find the originals.

I do know this with certainty: if I ever set a packet of seeds aside in a special place "so I won't lose it", that packet immediately becomes lost for at least a year.

My solution for now is to remind myself when tempted to "set something aside" , that it is much more convenient to KNOW WHERE IT IS, than it is to have it somewhere "convenient" that I can't find to save my life.

Just dropped mine off at the post office. I forgot to write this inside my package, but I'm fine having them shipped back whichever way you want Alana. I only used first class to mail mine in because almost all my seeds were small and light, so I got it under 13oz. My return package will have less packets but probably weigh more since I dibbed several beans and heavier things.

I managed to easily fit 145 packets in the bubble envelope by using my bag sealer and those thin baggies from packing air pillows to make my packet bundles. Those air pillows work great because they are just the right size, perforated, lightweight, and I have a lot of them from Amazon orders! I could have just taped them closed, but I need an excuse to use my bag sealer!

I love thos air pillows, too, Morgan. I've even used several to cushion plants in envelopes with no problems.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one that manages to lose seeds. I make up baggies a through z when I'm adding my seeds into a swap on this site. I KNOW I HAD THOSE SEEDS! I found one of them, the other I sent my last commercial seeds packet of them. I can always order another pack if I HAVE to have them again.

I had one of those moments of panic tonight when I reached for the packet of Orange Thyme. Not there! Naturally, I suspected our feral cat (given name = Stryper; earned names = Slasher & Swiper). She was found innocent a few minutes later, though. Pretty sure she wasn't the one who put the thyme in the P-cup instead of in the T-cup Confused

I had to watch my kitties like a hawk during this seed swap! I had my box of seeds on the bed right behind me and the cat was "sleeping" at the other end. I heard a crinkle crinkle and turned to find him with his front two legs already in the box and starting to lift his back leg over the edge. Today, I set my bubble envelope of seeds on the table and turned to put on my coat to go to the post office. Turned back around and there is the other cat trying to figure out how to lay atop the bubble envelope like a pillow. One of them also likes to steal small absorbent things like paper, napkins, and my clean socks and drop them in their water dish... so I definitely can't leave any seed packets out ever.

My momentarily missing seeds moment turned out to just be a name change. I try to file them by scientific name to force me to try to learn them. But, even the scientific names change sometimes or have multiple versions in use which gets confusing. I have my feverfew still labeled as Chrysanthemum, but all references here now call it Tanacetum.

Rick, you hit the nail on the head. I do that with papers too, that I dont want to lose, and then can't find the place i put them. Really, overall, I'm very organized. Maybe I just have too much going on!?! LOL

Alana, I have contacted Lisa and Wildflowers and offered alternatives, and will mail the "lost" seeds if/when I find them. I HOPE I find them. Honestly! Thank you Lisa and Wildflowers/Christine for being so understanding. I hope no one lost the seeds they are supposed to send ME! LOL (just kidding!)

Temps rose to 45 degrees over night and we're getting rain (we should be glad it's not snow) now and for the next couple days. Let's hope it melts most of the snow we got over the weekend.

Have a great day everyone!

My USPS dashboard shows 14 packages headed my way already. Poor mailman. Once he handles 2 or 3 he will realize I am hosting another swap. He really is good about it and if the weather is bad he will take them to my neighbor's house so they are not in the weather. Thank you @patrob, for mentioning the new USPS feature; very handy.

It's warm and raining and the plants will be growing. That's not really a good thing. Grumbling

So far not this year, but last year I lost a pack of seeds for Horntoad...still have not found them.
