Hi all. I'm an iris noob and ordered my first box of rhizomes from Schreiner's earlier this year. Was really happy with the size of these rhizomes, but one in particular was gargantuan. It was Clarence and had enormous increases. I planted the irises six weeks ago. This morning I noticed that Clarence already has a bloom stalk. I can't believe it! The one that I'm most waiting to see is Absolute Treasure, which is also doing really well, but wow, this must be some kind of record! This is officially my first iris bloom stalk of any kind. I assume that it's going to grow much taller than this. Let's hope it turns out well!

Congratulations Tienito. I am jealous of everyone who has Absolute Treasure in their garden as I can't get it in Australia.

Welcome! Tienito! It will grow to normal size once established. Since it was planted so recently, and is using a lot of energy making a bloom stalk, this stalk and bloom may not reach its potential. That being said, hooray for a bloom in September! Looking forward to swing a photo of its open bloom. Smiling

Hi Tienito -- Welcome! to the Iris forum! And to the wonderful world of Irises.

You've made a great start to your collection with Clarence. It's a hardy, lovely Iris that loves to bloom -- as you can clearly see! Thumbs up

It's so gorgeous in pictures. Is there a reason they don't have it down under? Wish I could send you one!

Wecome Tienito, Congratulations on your first bloom, and how lucky to see it yet this fall. What other ones did you get in your first order?

Maybe the Australian iris hybridizers thought it was similar to one of their own.

Wait until the new introductions come next year, and that wish list will go crazy! Hilarious!

You might want to look at some of Ghio's, Johnson's, Blacks, Duncan's, Painter's, Blyth's, Sutton's, Aitken's, Kerr's...... Whistling Hilarious!

Sadly, but with great pleasure, I've ogled all those hybridizers' creations! I need a strategy to limit the choices. Here's a question that would really help me, but one that I'm afraid to ask, because everyone cheats! But seriously, what is the ONE iris for you? If you were sent to prison for the rest of your life and your cell has just ONE window that opens onto ONE small square of dirt where only ONE iris could be grown, what would that special ONE iris be?! Don't cheat?!
