Hmmm, if I had to pick just one iris for my desert island or a prison cell, as you say, it'd probably be one of the three Keppel's: Montmartre, Drama Queen or Gypsy Lord. I'm one for the flamboyant types.
After what seemed like an eternity, my precocious Clarence today finally bloomed! Pictures are poor representations of this flower. It sparkles like a beacon of light at the bottom of my front steps. Absolutely gorgeous. And the best thing is... I have three more buds on the way! Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Of the Iris that bloomed in my garden this year I would pick New Face because it had my favorite garden colors pink and purple and it had my favorite fragrance. My daughter said Grape candy. It would hurt though because I want them all. . Your Clarence is beautiful. Mine isn't blooming this fall, but I did just get it from Lowes last fall.

Indeed I do! We've been in this house for less than a year and actually haven't had much time to work on the outside. Once we do that, there would be room for (almost) all the irises on my wishlist! Librarians and iris growers seem to have this in common: we know that, above all else, space is a premium!
Congrats on your first bloom Tienito. Clarence is lovely. My desert island pick would also be Montmartre with Louisa's Song, Starship Enterprise, and Drinks at Sunset tied for second place.
