Here is a seedling from 'Cheese Time'. I finally decided to pry it out of the flat of seedlings from.2022. I love that it has a velvet texture.

As promised I now have some photos of my 2022 seedlings. I have posted some huge group photos but have now selected some I am going to keep and that is what I am posting.

I still have a boatload more of seedlings for 2022 but a lot of them will be going to a plant sale next weekend.

MelissaHopper said: Here I am back again to bore you with photos of my seedlings.

These are my 2021 seedlings. Later I will take photos of my 2022 seedlings that I have selected to keep and watch. The rest are headed for plant sales and the consignment store.

Starting off alphabetically with Gold Nugget.

Gold Nugget #1 -- I love this one. It is probably going to get a name.
Thumb of 2024-04-19/MelissaHopper/ffdc22

Gold Nugget #2 -- This one has nice color but doesn't grow much so I will probably use it in planters.
Thumb of 2024-04-19/MelissaHopper/b4265b

Gold Nugget #3 -- Another one I like that will probably get a name.
Thumb of 2024-04-19/MelissaHopper/6c7c12

Gold Nugget #4 -- And I like this one too.
Thumb of 2024-04-19/MelissaHopper/31445b

Gold Nugget #5 -- And here we have good old #5. This one doesn't do anything. It grows bigger, slowly and changes color but has NEVER produced even one offset. I am keeping it out of sheer stubbornness.
Thumb of 2024-04-19/MelissaHopper/431d3c

Gold Nugget #6 -- This is the one that is most like Gold Nugget and will get a name also.
Thumb of 2024-04-19/MelissaHopper/5e9fbe

And now for Jabba the Hut

JTH #1 -- I really like this one. It has the most beautiful color and the petals are shiny and fat. Possible namer.
Thumb of 2024-04-19/MelissaHopper/7e6c3f

JTH #2 -- And I really like this one, just because.
Thumb of 2024-04-19/MelissaHopper/4195fe

JTH #3 -- Not real crazy about this one. Probably clean it up and take it to a plant sale.
Thumb of 2024-04-19/MelissaHopper/afc8d6

JTH #4 -- I also like this one. Really like the deep red color.
Thumb of 2024-04-19/MelissaHopper/12b02d

Persephone

Pers #1 -- I really like the form on this one. The way the offsets surround the main plant.
Thumb of 2024-04-19/MelissaHopper/e28a1c

Pers #2 -- This is my fav of the Persephone seedlings
Thumb of 2024-04-19/MelissaHopper/6754e0

Pers #3 -- This one had a rot issue. The main rosette rotted so I will probably just sell what is left.

Very nice selection of seedlings! Have you done any trials yet to see how they do for others?

And here is one, just for Lynn!

This is a Rifka 2023 seedling that just got it's own pot.

It is tiny. That is a quarter next to it.

Melissa, I so love that tiny semp. Don't let anything happen to it. Love the color coming on, and it's form is lovely.

Lynn/Alex,
The glaucous seedling from your first photo really stuck out to me too. I snapped those sedum photos a few days ago and will be posting them on the sedum thread today.

Melissa,
Your seedlings are looking gorgeous as always! You grow them so well. I love ALL of your 'GN' seedlings and 'JTH' #4. Can't wait to hear the names you come up with and I'm looking forward to starting a fan-favorite collection of your cultivars!

My own oldest 'GN' seedlings were all crossed with 'Positively Glowing', in terms of color I hypothesized it'd be a dream cross, and I did see some fairly spectacular color though none were as vibrant as positively glowing in the seasons it "glows". I set the toughest, most beautiful one aside for naming last year and it just had it's worst winter of all time, dying back to the center of each rosette. It had one sibling that did a little better through the winter, but I'm thinking I'll have to give up on the whole group unfortunately. Perhaps they'll be used as breeding stock, but my second year of 'Gold Nugget' seedlings has shown much more promise, those are at least a year away from a name, though a couple of them have pet-names already.

Alex, that last one is interesting. Would love to see it when it opens all the way. I also see it is putting out offsets. Hurray!

Alex,
I agree with Lynn that purple one is nice. Your planting is very attractive, the stone work is not only aesthetically appealing but also functional. Occasionally I mulch my seedlings with gravel which does look nice, but even then, my seedlings are all in perfect rows which naturally gives my beds more of a "farm" look than a garden. I dream of a rock garden worthy of exhibition, but my current situation doesn't really allow for that, though I do occasionally take the liberty of arranging agates and favored stones in and around my pots.

Lynn,
I tried tagging you in my post on the sedum forum about hybridizing albums but haven't heard from you there. I'd love your input on these little guys so when you get the chance check them out for me…
The thread "Sedum Hybridizing; crosses, seed starting, selection and cultivar discussion" in Sedum forum
I know Kevin's hybridized ground cover sedum before so I tagged him as well, though I'm not sure if he was doing hand crossing or collecting/raising bee seed. Either way I'm sure he would have some helpful tips.

It's possible I don't understand the tagging thing, but I figured it was just typing the @ followed by the username, like @valleylynn ?

Sol, just copy and paste the username at the lower right of each post. It is between the ribbon bookmark thingy and the Quote word. Make sure to include the @ symbol next to the username. No space of course. Now to see if that works:
