Hello everybody! Dropping in on a rainy cool evening to say hi and I hope I learn a lot from this forum. I've been in love with flowers, trees, all those wonderful things out in nature. We live in a suburb called Oberlin, close to Harrisburg PA (State Capitol), and are not that far from Longwood Gardens and Winterthur. I've always enjoyed playing around with different plants- cacti, orchids, plumeria, etc.
We bought a house this Spring, and I have had good luck with a nice little strip for gardening in our front yard (wildflowers). However, there are a few trees on our property, and I've only been able to ID one (Smokebush)... so I wanted to join a good Forum where I might get some help. So... here I am.
Decided to start off with one pic of our first year garden (at this point, the blanketflowers have taken over)... and another of an orchid that was on the Lowe's "cheap plants that look dead" rack- I have it growing very nicely now and have learned a lot in the process.
Thanks!

Hello and welcome! Welcome! You have joined the best plant site on earth. Thumbs up

For the tree identification you can post pictures of the tree in question - one tree per thread so the answers don't get all jumbled up.

Looking forward to watching your garden grow.
