No word on my specific home but the news of our island is not good. It appears lots of homes have trees on or in them. The marina, just around the corner from my home, has been destroyed and the boats are gone, probably stuck in the marshes.

Got a text from greene this morning....she and her dogs are OK. Didn't loose power until early this morning...also no internet.

We are being pelted with acorns and hickory nuts some wind and heavy rain.
Expect our small bridge will flood trapping DH on the wrong side...and he does so like to eat!! Opps...I told him not to go help DS paint those ceilings.

Will check to see how @greene is doing anybody hear?

Finally I can post here on the Happy thread. Just had a call from our friends in DeLand, who checked out the house -- tree across the driveway and a couple of other trees down, lots of debris which is to be expected but no damage to the house. The power is still out but hoping that it will be restored before everything thaws out in the freezer. That is a small price to pay, however, for not having incurred damage to the house. DH is probably happy that with several more trees gone, there will be less leaves for him to deal with. We will be down there on Monday to deal with everything.

Jean, wonderful news there is no damage to the house. Downed trees are a pita but can be dealt with as well as thawed frozen food.

Alice I sure hope all is well with you and yours. Terrible to hear people's homes have been damaged. Things can turn on a dime that is for sure. Thank goodness for resiliency and support.

I am trying to get everything staged so we can pack up and leave early in the morning. Made our motel reservations, told the bank we would be traveling, cancelled our dental appointment, charged up our cell phones, etc., etc., etc. DH picked up extra batteries and a couple of bottles of propane for the camp stove. We are putting a large cooler in the car so we can pick up ice before we get to DeLand, if Duke doesn't call us and let us the power is back on . We will also pick up more water on the way.

We had a bit of good news tonight, our son and his family returned to their home in PV Beach and found no damage. They have power and water (although they do have to boil it.) They had to pick up a few small branches and that was it. Whew, I don't think I could have stood it if both of us were in a mess.

It is absolutely beautiful here today, cooler and just nice. I have lots of friends in Daytona beach area, still out of power over there, some roof damage, screens blown out , downed fences, pools filled with stuff, most boarded up so inside of homes are okay. Seems everyone around here in Seminole Co. finally have power back by yesterday, some still no TV or Internet. Honestly everyone cleaned up fast and except for all the debris piled on the curbs for a special City wide pick up, you'd almost not know a storm had been here.

Hope everyone in North FL, GA and Carolinas are fairing well. Hard to not go back to your house and know how bad damage is.
