Really like Texas wildflowers. Indian Paintbrush, Gaillardia, Wine Cup, Tickseed, Queen Anne's Lace, Purple Verbena, and onward. Even let what looks like a wild Geranium loose all over my yard each year because it has the tiniest coral blossoms on it. Looks something like miniscule almost-ripe strawberries. Fun. Smiling

Linda, I have two plants of the Woolly Ironweed, it is so pretty!! but it hasn't spread for me much, I sure wish it would.
I haven't had any luck propagating it by seed, how do you propagate it?
Josephine.

Hi Josephine, so glad you're here! By seed! But for a few years I had only one plant (dug up elsewhere and planted) and no volunteers at all! When I gathered seeds from another location and planted seeds, THEN plants came up. Maybe no viable seeds from just one or two plants? There were no other Woolly Ironweed plants in my local area then. I'd be glad to send you some seeds later on...I've got plenty of those plants now!

Dee- I can't wait to see that!! We had a berm made by the road, and I so wish we had planted wild flowers all over it when it was nice and easy to do so!!

Thank you all three I found over near the Gulf Coast near a place called Steinahatchee, the best seafood restaurant we ever found(only problem is it is a 3 hour drive 1 way) I am hoping to get back and collect some of these plants as they are in a "kill" zone(a large area that has been cleared for building.

The one with the orange flowers reminds me of a milkweed flower. If it is, milkweeds are usually hard to transplant.

Milkweeds are easy - in fall - taken from wild...

Dig the WHOLE root - all the way down - no pulling.
Bury the root in the new location length ways and mark the location.
First growing season you might see nothing at all - keep watered and weeded and WATCH
By the second year you will see growth - will not bloom most likely until the 3rd year but it will bounce back.

I have learned it works.. and for some it is all I can do but I have about 12 saved from the roadway path this year and they all have tiny growth... One to Two years and I might have blooms - the journey is better often then the destination.

I will only collect seeds for the milkweed if I can find it, this one has very, very thin leaves and is tall, looks like flowers floating in the air

the wild phlox and the wild clematis if I can find them I will try to save them. but they are also very small

Sandy, I actually have some of that wild clematis growing by the road at my house. I keep forgetting to collect the seeds, but whenever I remember, I'll send you some.
