Sally,
You comments on the concrete planters got me to thinking. (Look out!)
To make your own, you would need
- a box of some sort that was large enough for your pot to fit into, with probably a 1-inch space all the way around.
- Coat the inside of the box with Murphy's Oil Soap (
http://community.ceramicartsda...).
- Also coat the outside of your pot if you want to remove it.
- A piece of plastic/copper pipe or old garden hose to lay across the top (actually the bottom) of your pot to create drainage holes.
This would need to run at least from the center of the pot to the side of your box mold. Don't forget to coat with the soap.
- Place the plastic pot upside down in your mold. Place it on a sturdy work surface
- Start filling the mold with cement mix until you're almost at the top of the inner pot.
- Position your drainage tube
- Fill the rest of the mold with cement mix
Place in a safe place to dry/harden.
Once it's dried, I would remove the mods and place the block out in the weather so that any lime in the cement mix will start to leach out and not kill the first thing you put into it.
Just a thought.
