ediblelandscapingsc said:Thanks DND the weed you are talking about is Purslane (Portulaca oleracea) you can eat it but not it's look alike that has red specks on the foliage. I have purslane in my garden too but I kind of like it's succulent look so I keep it when I see it.

I just saw this Rolling my eyes.

But one question....how di dyou know! Blinking I didn't think you would be able to ID it off of that little description I gave you, but you did! I will second what someone else said: you can have mine! It grows all over my garden beds, but never in the lawn. Maybe because it knows its edible? Hilarious! I suppose I ought to try to taste it next year if it's going to keep popping up. Then, when my gardens are overrun with it, I can tell my hubby 'I am TOO, keeping up with the weeding; these aren't weeds, they're salad additives!'

I asked about this plant about 4 or 5 months ago and have become very familiar with it since then. Your description and the fact that you said your neighbor eats it all pointed to Purslane. Thumbs up

I agree I knew right away that it was Purslane from your perfect description of it. I've never tried it either!

All my boys are like bottomless pits seems like they never get full Hilarious! They are all good kids thank God because I wasn't the best kid in the world. I was sneaking off with girls at 14, sneaking smoking cigs at 15, and was trying to be Mr. Popular at school. Christian the 5th picture down worries me a little because he likes girls wayyyy to much for a 12 year old and also tries to be Mr. Popular at school but still makes A's and B's in school. My oldest is 15 already they sure grow fast his name is Daniel and is in the last pic. He want's to join the military and is already in ROTC. Michael in the 4th pic is 14 he's already taller than me by an inch and still has more growing ahead of him. Both Daniel and Michael are straight A students and are the only kids I know to not complain about homework. Joseph 3rd pic down was the baby and still is my baby boy he's 8 and the world is his oyster. He makes A's and B's in school but hates homework so I always have to stay on him about making sure it's all done. They all are very loving and have hearts the size of Texas. None of them are fans of gardening though. Their idea of fun is the video games, fishing, archery, and karate in that order.

I can testify with truth here, Dan: That they have a dad who knows them well and pays attention to them speaks worlds for their future. That's what boys need most! Now your daughter? I dunno since I had no girls! I tip my hat to you. I tip my hat to you.

Daniel, you have a beautiful family! How nice that they are good kids, too. It takes great parents to have great kids, so you two have done your job well. It's funny that Daniel wants to join the military! I thought right away, when I saw his photo, that he looks like a military kid! My husband retired from the Navy, so I can recommend it for a profession. Thumbs up Give him a high-five from me. It takes a special person to go through ROTC at that age! My husband was an ROTC instructor at the University of Utah, so I know how much work it is.

Thank you Barbalee and Natalie Smiling Today Daniel has to run then drop a do a push up, I forgot what they call them but he does about 20 sets. Next year he will be taking greenhouse management He tried to get in this year but they was too full. Again none of my kids are fans of gardening so why he wants to take it so badly is beyond me but he's a kid of many talents. He can play the clarinet very well, the guitar fairly well, and keyboard a little. He says he wants to master every instrument. He also has a fascination with marine biology and can name fish like most kids can name pokemon.

Daniel, your Daniel is a kid after my own heart! I played the clarinet very well, the guitar somewhat okay, and the piano about the same. Still working on the piano now and then. Whistling If I had a clarinet in front of me now, the only thing I'd be able to do is put the reed in, and make it squonk! Haven't played in years, but I loved it when I did.

Maybe he is taking the greenhouse management course to impress you? Seems like he would be the kind of kid to do that. At least there is hope for him eventually enjoying gardening. Good luck with the rest! My son's idea of a perfect home is one that is completely surrounded by cement so that he never has to mow another blade of grass or pull another weed. Glare
