The roots were VERY good this year, just as nice looking as the ones I got from the US and Canada. I don't think I'll put in an order this year though--not enough that I don't already have to make it worth the extra shipping/certificate.

I am thinking about 2: Quitzin and Lemon Chiffon, together it will be just over the minimum order. If $4.80 per root is true plus 10% for the custom then I can afford (probably) $141.36. The whole order is because of Quitzin.

There seems to be some discussion about whether Quitzen is a good candidate for the coldest zones but we're a 4b and it grew first year here. I'll report back about growth next spring as well. I got mine from Hollingsworths fall 2016, think the first time it was offered commercially in the states. It grew fairly well here, had it in the newer beds so it was still tiny when we had our last blizzard which was probably a good thing! It only put out 2 stems but they were very well developed, indicated it will eventually be a fairly tall, robust plant. I had a single bud but it stopped growing at around the size of a normal marble. I saw it in person at Chotkowski's garden summer 2016; after I ordered it but before it was shipped. The flowers were definitely past their prime, only had a couple of older blooms on the plant, but definitely saw enough to make me glad I purchased it. The price for the 2 peonies you want is less than half of what I paid for the single root. I THINK I remember seeing that their division at that price was just a 1 or 2 eye piece, though, make sure you look and know what you'll be getting.

Thanks for the info, Liz. I read somewhere that people form zone 4 were happy how Quitzin grew, but I am in zone 3... I hope it will grow OK. In the catalog they say 3-5 eye root, hopefully will be as good as Karen's. I'll try to order and see how it goes.

Oh yes, of course! So there will be ~$5 per root for shipping, then 10% customs, 6% some BTW in addition, still better prices for many varieties. Quitzin is very rare and too expensive in the US. So I bought it though did not plan Hilarious!
