If you ever register that pink seedling, I would love some of it. Long blooming, double, dip..... nice job.

And yes, even though Vietnam was never a true 'war", many died. And the World Wars - whole generation lost. As a Vietnam Era vet, I am thrilled to see the current military recognized for what they have brought, and given up. Long overdue methinks.

One of these days, I am going to start a theme garden. And it is going to be military themed. I already began, when I purchased Sergeant Major at the local daylily society sale this past summer. Not sure when it will happen, or where I will put it, or what 'look' it is going to have, but slowly. it WILL happen. Perhaps it will just be 'military' names, or perhaps even a mixture of DL named after those that gave the ultimate sacrifice, and military names. ~Jan

Jan,

I'm a firm believer in letting an idea percolate and develop. If you are familiar with the folks at Amargia Gardens (DGers), Jim is retired Air Force. He's putting in what he calls "The Old Soldiers" garden. Using a color theme--red, white, and blue, of course Smiling -- but is making a spot to plant the Cullins daylily when I have a fan ready to send on. That area of Amargia's gardens just evolved, too. Lovey dubby

Debra

Jan, when you get your theme bed going, be sure to check out Mick Morry's website Avalonia Daylilies. Mick has a whole series devoted to WWI. Mick is a Canadian vet and his grandfather served in WWI, so he is doing that to honor his gradfather. I think it is really awesome. I think he sells here in the US thru Delano Daylilies so no phyto/ customs stuff to deal with.

Mick is a friend of mine and he and his mother Lanny have worked tirelessly to breed some really good hardy daylilies that have a lot to offer and that series is awesome. He has a seller in the states that he refers any orders to so you don;t have to pay the Fita.

I noticed that a bunch of Mick's are listed on the LA. The seller is possumhollow if anyone wants to check it out. I've never bought from them so I can't offer any advice on that though. Smiling just doing my part to enable as many folks as possible Big Grin Whistling

I want you all to know it is Becky's fault I became so daylily obsessed this year. I mean just LOOK at her avatar! I saw it last year and had to ask what it was. Then I had to go find it. Then I got surprise bonuses with the purchase. (Who knew it is standard practice?) And then and then and then...156 daylilies later... Hilarious!

(thank you becky. Smiling )

We are terrible enablers, aren't we? Yes, Bubbles and Possumhollow had a bunch listed, which have been ending over the last few days. I almost bid on one, then was able to deny myself. Other bills, yanno. But I am not sure how long I can hold off.....

I won't mention how many I am watching Whistling
