Gordon Hawkins' Brooklyn roof garden is well known in gardening website circles. He frequently posts photos of his exotic and eclectic collection of brugmansias, passifloras, clerodendrons, and more. The source of many brugmansia collections has been his generous free cuttings in late fall each year. Gordon also freely shares his clever directions for building planters and patio furniture from foam insulation boards.

Well, you'd be okay in the Park. We were going to some giant candy store before dinner at Serendipity's. He told us he could take us there and avoid traffic for more money, of course. We had to cross a busy street, and I picked up kiddo and put him on my lap when it got scary. It was a lucky move, as he would have had nothing to hold onto if he flew out. The driver of the car hit had a "Badger Bumper." The pedi-cab driver went over and quickly talked to the driver, and he let us go on. 'Must happen frequently. The cab drivers were sneering at our driver because they were stuck in traffic and we were skirting through. That was my one and only ever pedi-cab ride.

Traveling with a little boy, we visited quite a few toy stores too. I found the candy store expensive, but it was NYC, so guess it was for the "experience."

GordonHawk ~ thanks for taking the time to elaborate on your overwintering process. I am equally impressed but could have done without looking at the snow photos... Brrrr!

I am so amazed that your plant shelter can withstand what must be some windy winter days. How clever and impressive but how delightful to be able to enjoy all that greenery indoors through the shorter, darker days of winter.

Very nice!
