It was a little slip of a thing about 5 months ago but seems to have taken hold well now. It bloomed a little in August or early September.

We are seeing very healthy columbine leaves. However they run around on their own. Shrug!

Karen, I wonder if your 'Rozanne' is getting more sun than mine - my plants are *much* rangier.

Sheryl, mine is pretty straggly now too, if you could see it from above. The fresh green foliage is growing out of the center, and it's surrounded by those rather spent, sprawling stems of flowers. Now that days are so short it's probably only getting 2 or 3 hours of direct sun.

Speaking of short days daylight savings time ends this weeken. Thumbs down So depressing.

Grrrr- I am not fond of daylight savings time.

Could also be that your plant is a little more mature than mine? If it stops raining this afternoon I'll take a quick pick and maybe you can tell me if it looked like this when you first planted it.

I love daylight savings time. After we return to EST I feel like it's dark out all the time. When I worked full time I often went to work in the dark and came home in the dark, wouldn't see daylight for days on end. I work in surgery, no windows.

Give me DST anytime.

People still have the small mums in bloom. We didn't have the energy to plant any this year.

We had 2 inches of rain overnight, so I covered the pots of semps on the deck.
They hate alot of wet and I could swear they thanked me this morning. Hilarious!

Tee, isn't it the truth? The easiest way to lose semps is mushy medium and too much water/rain.
That is why I grow them in pots, not in the garden. Tried that. If you have raised beds devoted only to them or planted with like plants, they probably would be fine. But I found in the regular garden, no go! Certain death by drowning.
With pots I can control the amount of moisture they get, the little divas! Hilarious!

Yes, forget about being bothered much by the cold ... but too much water will get them every time. They hate it. Fast draining planting medium is a must. I have a few in the garden but many in pots. When I plant the new Opuntia bed, I may incorporate some semps in there. That area is protected by the eaves of the house and stays much drier than anywhere else in the yard.

Yes, Tee I agree
Even with perfect drainage and soil...too much rain will stress the semps no end. That's why I like to control the water these get....what we do for them, right Hilarious!
