What about your CC, Karen? Mine bloomed single that first spring but was the right color, then lost buds in the hail storm this spring. I have high hopes for next spring since I'll have late snow/hail protection in place over the bed it's in.

I re-read the original post I made when opening this thread and have an announcement to make--out of the ones I listed the only one that I haven't acquired is Weatherball 90! I'm sure I can look at my "Wanted" list and come up with several others, though, that I've drooled over for several years....

Hi Karen! I put a half of a tomato tomato cage over every peony I have!! The deer and dogs will trample them if I don't. I plant daylilies in with my peonies and deer love to eat them! It's a lot of work, but worth it so the peonies aren't ruined. Some of the peonies even have chicken wire around them, too. The bunnies run through the beds and break emerging stalks. Sigh. It is a real battle to garden out in the wild.!

My Oochigeas is a strong contender to bloom next year also, Craig. If the weather cooperates this year it could be an awesome Spring.

That is great about your wishlist, Liz. I too read this entire thread again. It is fun to have people that enjoy peonies to share our experiences with. Group hug
LG - My garden grows with love and a lot of hard work.

Sorry to hear about your critters LG. Crying I have issues with deer tromping through the newly planted roots but they seem to leave the plants alone, thankfully! The rabbits love to nibble on my tree buds over the winter so I have to wrap them with deer netting.
Glad to hear that you have acquired most of your wishlist Liz. I never heard of Weatherball 90, I will have to watch for it.
I would love to see Y-158 become available, it is a full yellow and very rare. Rolling my eyes.

LG, thanks for explaining. Like Craig, I am sorry to hear that you have to go such extreme lengths to protect your peonies from critters. I am really glad that I don't have much challenges growing peonies. My area is rather tame compared to you all.

Liz, my CC had struggled in its original place of planting. I had it in a row of established itohs and it could not compete with all the others. I moved it last fall so I hope that it has a better chance to grow. If it is happy, I should see a flower from it next spring. Crossing Fingers! Crossing Fingers! Crossing Fingers!

Turkeys are more of a challenge here than deer—crazy things dig at the base of my tree peonies looking for insects and break off new growth. I had to put tomato cages around them and wrap fishing line around the cages to keep them out! They seem to be really attracted to the newest planted ones...
