I got a near full size shot of my tall Lupin, I had to go a very long way from it to get this so it's not maybe very clear. There's the top of a plant pot in front so you can't see the bottom but it gives an idea.. this was on 24th November, still looking good but unless winter is kind to us this year I doubt it will look good for much longer.

We had sun that day! Green Grin!

I have another self set Lupin in a bed on the other side of this Lynn (I have a central hexagon with surrounding path), the other one has been there for maybe three or four years now and is robust. It has creamy yellow flowers, I don't have one that colour it could have come from! It's somewhere between the other which was like a tree Lupin and this one but looks like a standard Lupin. I'm beginning to wonder if my latest tree Lupin came from the yellow one, and the yellow one came from the first tree Lupin which was shorter. A sort of two stage reversion! I can't wait to see the flowers, fingers crossed for next year.

As you might expect, I only have photos of it with bees on. Hilarious! It's closer to the colour of Lupinus arboreus.. the other tree Lupin was a pale lavender blue two tone with a creamy part, similar to the photo on this site..

Lupinus arboreus grows well in poor soils, where the yellow one is quite poor as it's near the edge of an Oak tree canopy and it's very sandy. Check out the flower likeness!

tree lupine...COOL. I get lupine popping up all over here, but not the tree type..at least I don't think so as it gets cut when Bill mowes.

You will have to rescue some Ginger, you might find some interesting colours! Lupins are an old plant much neglected now but they really do have a lot to offer. I love to see any new colours I get, I have a few set around the yellow one but they make lots of seed which is flung around when they 'pop'. The pod halves also twist around each other on the yellow one, I don't think I've seen the twisting on others. I had a look at the pods today but all the seed has been flung and I'm wondering what the seedlings are going to do, I might have to move some. It's surprising there isn't plants everywhere but I think many get eaten, this year I have taken some from most plants I have and spread some around. If I get flowers and seed from the Tree Lupin I wil have to keep some seed as insurance.
