I have been having a hard time keeping mine alive so I have been searching everywhere to seek help.

I am attempting to propagate from a stem as well as the leaves. One of my stems started to grow roots. I was being mindless and tried to re-pot it..while I was doing that, the wind knocked my plant over and most of the roots broke off! Would you happen to know if I damaged the plant? If you have any tips, I would love to hear (read) them!

Same here Tiffany! I'm ADDICTED. I have trays of them everywhere all over my house!

I took pics of all of the ground-leaves in back yard today. Some small stem cuttings in the areas too.






How are others' babies doing?

A lot of these babies are in danger of getting covered with leaves this week if there's a frost tonight. So I pulled them up a few days ago, potted today, and of course, watered right before taking a pic, like people so often do.

Right before it got really cold, I snapped these leaves off of mama plants but forgot to bring them inside. Figured they were goners but noticed last weekend that although the mama leaves look much more haggard than they would have if not exposed to the cold, the baby plantlets & their roots look and feel fine. Graptosedum, unexpectedly hardy.


These leaves have laid on windowsill inside greenhouse for the past 3 months. They were still connected to the mama leaves until I tried to arrange them into more photogenic positions. Kalanchoe rosei.


Instead of tending baby plants over winter, I've done nothing but completely forget about them, and assume they were dead.

@purpleinopp, I am having zero luck still with propagating from leaves. Were these last ones you showed us just left on a windowsill, or on soil? Mine all rot at the end that they should begin roots or babies, so perhaps the solution is that I should just leave some leaves somewhere and never water until I show signs of roots?

Yes, there is no need for any soil or moisture until tiny roots form. The leaves in the first pic are on a tile in the middle of a mini garden outside. The 2nd pic are leaves that were on windowsill (facing south.) To harvest leaves to propagate, bend/snap them from the mama stem, don't cut.
