I took about 100 leaves off of various stems to start new baby plants yesterday.

About a month ago when I realized my ghost plant was not dead from the cold in Jan., I took these leaves off to make more, to make sure that "all of my eggs are never in 1 basket" again by having other individuals in various places.

They have been on a shelf placed across a south window, & look ready for some soil. :+)

Wow, they really want to grow! I've never left them unplanted like that.

After having 99.9999% success this way the past few yrs, I'll always do this. Sticking them in/near soil sooner never worked as well for me.

When I unpack greenhouse today, I'll check the leaves on the windowsills in there, from 3/3 pic.

If you're not having luck with your leaves don't give up- but definitely try something new

And remember- Tiffany's windowsill in an 8b zone greenhouse at whatever time of year has its very own unique climate- temp, humidity, light. I'm more than a little envious, but I just remind myself not all windowsills are equal

I've had some success and lots of fails, and I have no idea why sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't, but it does make it really special when I do get it to work!

I tried my hand on a few different varieties and the only ones that didn't take, were those from Black Prince. The ends shriveled up and turned dark brown.

Can Aeonium propagate from a single leaf? I took a few off of one but they don't look good.

This is my 1st time with Kal 'Chocolate Soldier' leaves. These have been on a brick next to mini garden since Feb, some nights below freezing.



The little heater in my gh is only able to keep the temp in there about 10° warmer than outside, so it was barely above freezing a lot of nights this past awful winter. Many of them were in various windowsills inside, some of them in rooms that aren't heated. Barely above freezing in there too. I think tons of sun is the most important thing but can't say that any of this observation was done scientifically, and I don't have any thermometers in the house, just going by feel, ice on windows & being able to see my breath.

Yes, you can propagate Aeoniums from leaves. Some are easier than others.

You really are great at propagating your plants from the leaves. I'll have to do it more.

TY for the kind comment but I really don't feel like I can accept the credit. I really do nothing and wait for the leaves to do what they can do. It's very addicting, I have hardly any older individuals, I keep chopping them up & removing their leaves. ...and out of room for more big, leafy tropicals. ;)

Kalanchoe 'Fang' leaves. I think it was about 3 months ago that I took these leaves off of a mama plant. After taking the pics, I put them with other babies out in the rain. A lovely light rain today.
