Most of the ones I have out side are in pots and have been there a long time but a heavier mix then cactus soil. A guess mostly just some bags of top soil.
I do have some I just stuck in the ground and they grow. These plants seem to grow maybe not thrive in just about any soil.

That doesn't look like a sempervivum, looks like another type of succulents seedling? Interesting.

I was thinking that when I 1st looked at it. I had put them in new soil when I moved them inside maybe it was tagged on the sempervivum when I pulled it out of the pot but that was about 2 months ago, I did have some succulents planted out by the chicks , I will have to watch and see what develops.

If any of the other succulents bloomed you could have more seedling coming along. It will be fun to watch and see what it does.

Nice guess Bev, it does look like it could be a type of sedum.
Ed, can you show us what the other plants were?

I may have come from one of these pots, not cleaned up yet after winter.
It looks closest to the one in the clay pot.

Looks like it may now be developing a bud maybe to flower ?
At 1st I was thinking more leaves but as time goes on it looks more like a bud.

Sure does look like a bloom stalk in the making Ed.
Your potting soil looks to be peat/bark based. This could be part of what is going on with the odd root/stolon growth. And the stress could be what has made it start setting a bloom stalk.

Lynn, forget what soil be pretty sure it was a cactus mix . I planted these in the basement under some old fluorescent tubes in the winter just for something to do . I will update when something develops.

The Sedum looks like jelly bean Sedum (can't remember Latin name) I'd move it into its own pot, it won't want to be outside except in summer
I've seen other plants roots turn into offsets (haworthia)
and thinking that's what happening, cool to have this journal! I tip my hat to you.

gg5, these will not be going outside as I have others that remain outside. Since this was a project to see how they would do in my basement I decided to keep them in and see how they progress. May move the Sedum ,once it gets larger to another pot.

Ed that looks so odd, I'm not convinced it is a bloom looks so much like an offset at the top, the way it is rounded...curious to see what it is! I tip my hat to you.
Is the bottom part dying out or are the leaves sturdy to the touch? If they are sturdy, I like that coloration! I tip my hat to you.
