You know what's weird? When I was married, in my twenties and thirties, I was a great cook. Cornish game hens, homemade pies, taco night, holiday dinners, all kinds of good things. And now at age 66 and single for 35 years or so, I don't remember how I did it all. Weird, huh? Young brain?

Yeah. Sometimes I wonder how I actually did all that. Creative and everything. I wouldn't know where to begin now.

Geeze, in my 20's I was following recipes "to the letter". Now that I'm 65, I make up my own recipes. When my hubby says "that's a 'do again' " I say "HUH? IF I remember, and IF I have the same ingredients" I change things up...
and speaking of Salsa, mine is made with Zucchini, onions, red & green peppers and jalapeno peppers, plus dried chili peppers, tomato paste, and chopped tomatoes. Salt, sugar & vinegar, too, of course

Susan, your salsa sounds good! Mine is a bit simpler; fresh tomatoes, onions, a bit of cumin, fresh hot peppers, lime juice, a little salt and canned chopped green Chilies. I have made it so many years that I don't use a recipient, per say, I just mix it up. Same with my Chile, which I will be making on Saturday because it will be very cool here this weekend. This batch will be special, because I will be adding venison along with my ground round, my last package of it. Lovey dubby

I had guests over for dinner often way back when. And I seemed to have no problems making dinner.

These days couldn't manage to have guests for dinner. Way too much. If it's my turn with friends to host we go to restaurant on my treat. Hilarious!

I've remembered the way I made meat loaf. I remember someone trying my meat loaf and was surprised and said that it tasted just like steak. The two things I did to it were to add some A-1 sauce to the mix along with the usual chopped onions, raw egg, and a handful of oatmeal. I also drained the grease halfway through baking. I'll never make it again though.

I used to like it and cold the next day in a sandwich with mustard and ketchup. I rarely eat meat anymore. Just lost interest in it, I guess. Getting old is kind of weird!

I still
Make meat loaf and still love it. Never any leftovers for sandwiches because it gets eaten up. I use ground round, an egg, crackers worstershiere sauce, and my secret ingredient, salsa, plus ketchup on the top. Sounds gross, but really good. Hurray!

Yes, I used Worcestershire sauce too. Sometimes crushed crackers. And I squeezed a line of ketchup across the top to serve. Your recipe sounds great! If I still cooked I'd try the salsa too.
The way I made hamburgers patties either to eat with a baked potato or in a hamburger was that I fried up the hamburger patties in butter and Worcestershire sauce. They were fabulous.
