Ocotillo (Fouquieria splendens) is a unique desert landscape plant. It has long branched canes growing from a very short trunk. It had gorgeous blooms from March until June.
Thank you, it's even dreary here in NM. Our high today was only 39F and our low was 30F. It's been drizzling rain all day. Thank you, Marilyn for the acorn!
Thanks, Dave. It really is a gorgeous plant when it's in bloom, and I love the sculptural look even when it's out of bloom. In Arizona my Ocotillos only have leaves when it rains. In NM the leaves stay on it from March to October.
@plantmanager I have often wondered what the ocotillo blooms looked like. Thanks so much for the lovely banner! Missed it yesterday because we were traveling.
Any day you wake up on the sunny side of the grass is a good day.

Thank you all for the acorns and thumbs up! They are all much appreciated. Our Ocotillo is soon to be covered with 8 to 12 inches of snow if the weather people can be believed. Most times we get 1 to 2 inches.
