I am looking for SILOAM LESIA MOWERY and so far the only source I have found is Nova Scotia Daylilies. They list it for $8.00 which is a very reasonable amount. The only problem is that they only ship to Canada. If someone from the US were going to visit them and would be willing to purchase SLM and bring back to the US and then ship it to me I would be very grateful. Of course I would pay the shipping and purchase costs.

I know it's a shot in the dark but I might as well ask.

For that matter if anyone has a couple of fans she would be willing to sell, please let me know.

Don't forget also that you will need a phytosanitary certificate to legally bring the plant across the border. Fortunately, last time I checked, the certs were not nearly as expensive Canada to USA as they are USA to Canada, but you'd need to arrange for it somehow before returning to the States.

It is also listed here http://www.hemerocalles-isle.c... but they may or may not ship to the U.S.
I assume you have tried contacting Walnut Hill Gardens and Quarles Daylilies. They have listed it in the past - by chance they might still grow it?

Charley,

just for fun I thought I'd tell you about the name Lesia Mowry. She was a house cleaner for Mrs. Henry for many years before Mrs. Henry passed away. She was a real small town sensible gal. straight brown hair pulled back in a ponytail whenever I'd see her at the Henry's. She was a good worker, and would show up day to day ready to complete Mrs. Henry's list of things to do or projects in the house. She and I would joke about how important little details were to Mrs.Henry in getting the job done whether inside the house or out in the yard.
Lesia was from a small town near Siloam Springs. She was divorced with a son in high school who she was very proud of. THis was back in the late 90's.
Anyway, there is what I know about the namesake for Siloam Lesia Mowry. She was very kind and a really good worker. I know the Henry's really trusted her because there were times she was there and they weren't. I hope you find the flower! Smiling

I was very fortunate to live close enough to Siloam Springs that I could drive over of a morning, enjoy the daylilies, and drive back at sunset. Unfortunately, at that time Ms. Henry's garden was a magnet for hybridizers and I usually got Mr. Henry as my guide and bless his soul he tried but he didn't know the crosses and the history. I could always see whichever bigwig was there that day being chaperoned through the garden by a little old lady in a giant sunbonnet but my only contact with her was usually figuring how much I owed and handing her a check. Darrell Apps was there the last time we went and I really wanted to corner her for a minute to ask about SILOAM RALPH HENRY but the only Ralph Henry I got to know was the real one.
