I just got a bunch of orchids in and most of them are genera I have never had before. I will be posting these new additions over the next few days. Contact me if you want more information or want to order any of them. Many of these plants are in bud or bloom and this will be noted with each.

This is a new genus for me, Clowesia (Catasetum). Her name is Clowesia Rebecca Northen 'Grapefruit Pink' and she is a sub-compact grower, her pseudobulbs only getting to around 6" tall. She is leafless this time of year and before leafing out, she blooms. These plants are in bloom right now and the flowers will last around four weeks. Her fragrance is of grapefruit. She not only brightens up the room with her flowers but also imparts a nice, citrus fragrance. These plants are in 4" pots and ship in their pots. They are great plants for small hanging baskets, letting the pendulous flowers hang over the edges of the basket. They are super easy to grow and need little or no water (and no fertilizer) during the fall and winter months. When they begin to leaf out in the spring, resume watering and fertilization. Spring is also the best time to re-pot/up-pot.

The photos you see of the potted plants were taken 1-20-17. PayPal is the fastest and easier method of payment. T-Mail me if you have interest, want to order, or need further information about this plant. Include your location for shipping cost. As always, NGA/ATP subscribers get a 20% discount off my regular pricing.

The second plant is Vandachostylis (Neostylis) Lou Sneary 'Bluebird'. This is a compact grower that won't get more than 8-10" tall. This plant is in bloom and the photos were taken on Jan. 20, 2017. As the plant matures, it will become a 2-3 times a year bloomer. The flowers last 2-4 wks. The care of this compact is the same as with the standard Vanda varieties.

T-Mail me if you have interest.

The third orchid is a Nobile Dendrobium, Den. Spring Bird 'Kurashiki'. Rather than having canes that are 3-4' tall as do the standard Dendrobium varieties, this variety will only get 8-10" tall. On its multiple canes will be an amazing number of buds and flowers, even on small, young plants. The plants I have probably average 50 flowers/buds and they seem to grow new buds daily. It would not surprise me in the least that these plants end up to over 100 flowers before they finish blooming. These plants will be in flower for several months. These flowers will be pastel white to pink with lavender blush, but as they mature, they change to a rich yellow. The flowers are nicely fragrant. As soon as these plants finish blooming, they need to be up-potted.

The first two photos are of a few of the plants available and the photos were taken 1/21/17. The last two photos show how the color changes.

These plants are very reasonably priced. If you have interest, T-Mail me.

This is Blc. Momilani Rainbow 'Waldor'. The flowers just opened up. This is a compact grower with pseudobulbs/leaves about 10" long. I have two plants in bloom and one in bud.

I have 72 hr. heat packs if they are needed. T-Mail me if you have interest.

A second Momilani Rainbow has bloomed and the colors are far richer than those on the first plant. This plant still has an unopened bud and another stem that is in sheath. I have three other of these orchids, all in sheath. T-Mail me if you have interest in this variety.

Ken, Thank You!

My Orchid arrived today and in perfect condition as always! I see that the name has been changed from Iwanagara to Jackfowlieara: Orchid (Jackfowlieara Appleblossom 'Fantasy').

OK, glad you got it in good condition.

The name change seems to be frequently seen. None of the commercial growers will change their labels, so unless I am making my own custom-labels, I just leave that original label with the plant(s). I knew this series of orchids went by both names.

Ken, your plants always arrive in perfect condition; your packaging is fabulous! It's almost impossible to keep up with the name changes, especially with orchids and some of the names are so confusing to me. I imagine the commercial growers don't want the expense of having to print new labels which makes sense. I didn't learn this one had changed from Iwanagara until googling to read more about it.

Ken, you have to post a photo of those new BLACK orchids you just got in! That deep deep "black cherry" color (really reminds me of a ripe bing cherry!) is amazing.

That 'Black Magic' was posted on the "Orchids" forum, Jill, but not here. I still am trying to catch up with posting this particular orchid. Since I sell so little here on ATP, its about the last place I think about posting in the "Classifieds". That being said, now that I have the photos on hand, I will post it.
