Maybe the fox will have it for dinner. Rolling my eyes.

Unfortunately we have 6 dining room windows. When we cover or open one, the crazy bird just moves to a different one. He does not seem to be hitting it with his head but rather sort of flutters upward and hits with his body or his feet.

I've had cardinals attack one before, and trimming the top branches of a holly growing under 2 of the windows worked for him. Not with this robin. Sighing!

Could be worse... the robin that visited my parent's windows every spring would also poop as he attacked, then drag his wingtips through it so he painted "lovely" patterns up the window. You might be able to interrupt his obsession by covering all windows for a few days.
]
You might consider taping up hawk silhouettes on each window... I've also seen spider web designs suggested... They sell those as window clings, but I'm thinking you could also print them on acetate and tape them up, and they'd be (relatively) unobtrusive.

Or if you want the real thing, here's a link... looks like it's a couple more bucks per pair from Amazon, but you can get them in 1 day, and if they don't deter your robin you can return them within 30.

I wonder if the silhouette of a cat would have any effect?

Maybe a plastic owl, the type that people use to keep squirrels away?

It's unclear to me if silhouettes will ward off a robin attacking his own image, though. Avoiding hawks = survival, but chasing off a rival = fecundity, and instincts to increase both are strong.

Netting or screening should break up reflections enough to deter your amorous robin... one website I found suggested soap streaks across the glass (easy to apply & remove, at any rate).

Last night a black bear destroyed the new hummingbird feeder that Bonnie just put up this weekend. Black bears are not unheard of in our neck of the woods, but actual sitings have been few and far between in the 25+ years I've lived here.

No midnight strolls in your yard, Terri. Wow.

A big clump of mesh deer fencing in one of the windows seems to be working for keeping the robin away from it.

Teri, I can't imagine local bears hibernated much last winter, but when they awake they often can go for a walk about, foraging far from their home grounds. Your experience may be a once and done.

I hope. Smiling

Terri, do you need a replacement purple feeder? notsure if the lifetime warranty extends ro bear damage, but could ask... or was this a different feeder?

It was a different feeder. Bonnie and I were having a big chuckle about our new hummingbird feeders. The one I got from the Philly flower show claims it is the "best hummingbird feeder EVER" and the one Bonnie got from her boss for Christmas claims it is the "best hummingbird feeder EVER EVER". The feeder that the bear got was Bonnie's new one - it was in the front yard and my new feeder is in the back yard.

Last week, after sunset and just before dark I heard a local crow going crazy. Eventually I saw what all the noise was about, an owl had invaded the crows tree and the crow did not like it. He constantly attacked the owl, eventually driving it away. Very enjoyable to watch.

I agree, use to have a fox in my back back yard. Mice, squirrels and rabbits were at an all time low. The fox has moved on and this year I fear I will lose many plants to the rabbits.

Charlie, if you have clover in your lawn the bunnies like that better. We have very little damage from bunnies in any of our beds, they are always seen in the lawn eating clover. Thumbs up
