Beautiful flowers Hurray!

Nora, could your purple TP (on the left) be Black Dragon Brocade? Here it is:

Maybe you can post the Japanese or Chinese writing here.
Both Karen and Yan has Chinese heritage.

HemNorth said:Here are two Tree Peonies that I bought on the same day in 2005. They had indescribable Japanese or Chinese writing, so to me they are NOID's, but I loved them anyhow.

Doesn't Koukaman also have strokes of white?

Karen, it is my Nikon Coolpix camera and it has a special setting for food, believe it or not, that I used to match the color. I would do the minus and hold it up to the flower until the display matched reality!! Isn't that wild?

Craig that VS is lovely. So glad I ordered one Drooling

Thanks LG! That is an amazing feature on your camera.

Littlebin, Yan will definitely know the Chinese characters. I don't know much Chinese to translate anything. Hilarious! Hilarious!

Craig, your Simmons tree peonies look amazing! You have a wonderful ability to get your tree peonies to bloom. I also love your Vanilla Schnapps!

Lg, your Shining Light and BB have such rich colors!

Kathy, thanks for sharing your family history about growing peonies for such a prolonged period of time. Your plants are so mature, and gorgeous!

Karen, your Eden's Perfume is lovely! It's one of the plants I keep looking at, wanting to add it to my garden.

Nora, all I can say is wow! Your tree peony blooms are wonderful!

Here's my bloom pic for the day, Itoh Julia Rose from 2016.

Annette your Julia Rose looks so beautiful. Hopefully mine will bloom this year.
Thanks for the posts about Koukamon. My bud is turning yellow, so it may not bloom at all. It was pretty big when the freeze came, and it may be ruined.

Here is my bloom for today. Smith Family Jewel Itoh.

I was traveling all last week but wanted to tell you all how much I've enjoyed the daily photos! I took a few pics at the Birmingham Botanical Garden that I'll share when I get them off of my phone...
My husband and I possibly found the place we'll eventually build the house we retire to, put an offer in and are just waiting for a few things to complete the process! Hope it works out because it'll put us just a few hours from our daughter and in a zone that'll support both of our gardening wants....zone 7b is a bit warmer than I wanted, might be getting rid of most of my late season doubles but should be okay for everything else. And maybe I won't have to baby Blonde Vision as much anymore! I plan to take a few duplicate roots out this fall to plant, just to see how they'll do. Or will if our offer is accepted and perk test and assessment go well!

Congrats on finding a place near your daughter Liz! Hope all goes smoothly and your offer will be accepted. You will have a huge job ahead moving all your peonies. Is the soil good there? Hope you won't have to deal with deers at your new home.

Annette, your Koukamon is really awesome. Is it always the first peony to bloom in your garden? I also like the glowing pink color of your Julia Rose. Nice!

LG, I am so sorry to hear the loss of buds on your Koukamon. Smith Family Jewel is so lovely - it has my favorite color blend.

Great news, Liz! Which city is it near??!! How exciting to already put in an offer.

You will just have to trial the late doubles. Some years they work and others they don't.

Can't wait to see photos of Birmingham. It's such a lovely botanical garden.

So I'm sharing a few photos from last year, first blooms for these plants in my garden. I didn't get many photos last spring, only caught a few 1st time blooms, hoping to be at home much more this season and have tons to share!

The Birmingham Botanical Garden was really nicely laid out, not a ton blooming yet. I didn't see any herbaceous peonies growing there but there were several tree peonies, this in one that was fully in bloom. Sorry, didn't see a name tag.

The land we want is to the south of Birmingham near Calera. Keeping my fingers crossed!

So I came back to a few things popping up in my garden! First is 2 seedling tree peonies from APS, planted summer 2014. The seed parent was Shira-ziku.

@Jasmin - Thank you for the tip about Black Dragon Brocade, but It did not resemble the blossom when it opens up.
Here is another picture of my burgundy with white streaks, NOID Tree Peony.
Thumb of 2017-03-27/HemNorth/ed86c3 I think it more closely resembles Koukaman. It is listed as Kokamon in the Database and there is only one photo, so please, Annette @Cem9165 - place your wonderful photos into the Database. When I skimmed through, to see if there could be a fit to my NOID, the one photo there, didn't give me enough information to go by, but seeing your three photos, Annette, gives me hope that it can be the right one. It certainly resembles it in every other detail as it opens up. I am excited!

Thanks @littlebin for the suggestion for scanning the characters and getting help from Karen and Yan, but the labels have sadly disappeared over the years. However, when we made the move from Riverview in Robson, 12 miles south, to south Castlegar, we gave away a dozen or more Peonies to the wonderful people at Dutch Girl Peonies www.peonyfarm.ca - and they now have the two Noid Peonies. I will try to get pictures this summer to confirm that this one could be Kokamon (Koukaman or Koukamon).
If you go to their website, and I suggest you do, you will see last year's poster for our Peony Show. We are having one this year on June 9, 10, and 11, 2017. For info: www.castlegarpeony.com

Wow Liz! Exciting to be so close to Birmingham. It is beautiful down that way.

Thanks for sharing those photos. I'm glad you will be home for the Bloom Season.

Nora, I hope that it turns out to be Koukamon. That was certainly nice of you to give that nursery divisions of your peonies.

Hello Lizinelizabeth
An exciting moment in your retirement planning. My husband & I built our retirement home in 1993. He bought me a backhoe and himself a bulldozer. We soil tested, moved dirt, cut the drain furrows, had an acre pond dug, bought 3,000 pounds of grass seed, built the first barn, then the house - when we think about it, it makes our head spin - what we accomplished. But the work is done and all now being enjoyed.
Be sure to take pictures!
I truly know the excitement.

Thanks Kathy! The place we want is on a small, private lake and is densely populated with pine. I'm looking forward to planning both the house and gardens, hopefully better integrated than those here. We should be able to do some terracing but the majority of the land is fairly flat going down to the water. There are also 2 streams that feed the lake, hoping to get those cleaned up and add some rock to make them less ditch-like! We're still 5-10 years away from actual retirement so have several years to start a gradual move out there...Here's a picture from where the back of the house will be. Not all as densely treed as this part, luckily.

Liz, good luck with the new retirement property. Hopefully you won't have to worry about hail storms. Love all your photos, esp. Cactus Jack. I hope to acquire it someday!

Thank you all for your kind comments! I'm continuing to enjoy all the lovely pictures being posted daily.

Karen, my pink noid herbaceous is usually the first plant to bloom here.

Lg, sorry to hear about the loss of your Koukamon bud! I do hope you get blooms from your Julia Rose this year. Your Smith Family Jewel is beautiful!

Liz, congrats on finding a potential retirement location. Birmingham is only 2 hours from Atlanta. Thanks for sharing the pics from your garden and the BBG. It must be exciting to see your seedlings emerge. Also, when you move, I would keep the late doubles. They'll bloom earlier than they would in Colorado. My plants always adjust to my zone with the way they bloom. Spring blooming bulbs do the same thing i.e. plants that are labeled as late bloomers expected to bloom in May, bloom in March and April instead.

Kathy, what you've accomplished is amazing, building a barn, a home and putting down all that grass seed, in additon to putting in a pond.

Craig, thanks and your TP Crawly is also lovely.

Nora, I've done the proposal to add my plant to the database as you requested. Your bloom does look like Koukamon.

Here is Shimanishiki from April last year
