Here is a pic of some of the Monarch eggs that were laid on my Swamp MW yesterday (see post above) - NW Missouri. All told, I counted ~ 30 or so eggs. There were 10 on this one plant - even one on the dead stem from last year.

2 more males emerged and released , after determining their sex

1st one was ready to go , but would not let me see his front yellow stripes , so I had to take a blind cell pic to ID him

The sun came out today and so did the butterflies! This female buckeye just wanted to sit and sip in peace - but she had a persistent suitor pestering her.

Quite a number of different BF.
Plato would probably be a little bored too, though he does like to chase BF. When walking, he's on a leash which hampers his ability to give chase.

Melanie, I'm looking forward to all the great pics you'll accomplish and share with us all here.
Personally, I hope you'll obtain and post a massive amount of pics of daffodils into the Daffodil Database.

WooHoo - I made the cover of the latest report from Journey North.

https://www.learner.org/jnorth...

In other news, I have seen Monarchs every day since last Sunday. Several First Generation and a couple of remigrants. I checked my records and last year I saw my first Monarch on May 29. So they are ~ 5 weeks early which seems to be the case all over.

I have also seen:

Holy Cow.

My front bed where I discovered the remigrant laying eggs last Sunday...is now up to > 130 eggs. I had noticed Monarchs flying over the area, but did not see them laying.

Have no idea how I can care for them. Sighing! The bed is 10 x 20 football shaped with ~ 15 Swamp MW up from 1 - 4 inches.

When it rains, it pours. This egg dumping is going on all over the Midwest.
