Edgewater Glen’s Annual Fall Plant Swap will be held Sat. Sept. 23rd from 10am til noon, weather permitting in the backyard at 1420 W. Glenlake, Chicago, IL, 60660. https://edgeglen.com/

Please be aware that free street parking is limited, though there is a pay parking lot nearby. It's next to the Broadway Armory at Broadway Ave and Thorndale Ave. If you're taking public transportation, the Granville red line stop is a few blocks away and has an elevator.

FYI : Some plants that are marketed as annuals are actually tender perennials that can be overwintered indoors if kept in the correct conditions. These plants include : alocasia, coleus, pelargonium, sansevieria, canna, fuschia, mandevilla, and tradescantia. If you know of other tender perennials that are commonly used as temporary landscaping plants in Chicago, please let me know. :-)

If you're able to attend, please send me a PM, because I haven't figured out how to get this website to email me updates when someone posts. *Blush* There's several plants that I'm looking for and cuttings I can offer as a trade. Smiling

I'm pretty interested in this swap, although I have a couple other things tempting me that day.

What are you looking for, Verdant?

Hey seedrat,

I live close to the Edgewater Glen swap location, so if there's something you're looking for and you're able to meet me, I can pick up items for you. This swap is way, way smaller than the swap in Evanston.

My current wish list:
Cold hardy large flowered hibiscus
Flowering plants that'll survive as houseplants to brighten up my apartment during the winter
Orchids
Succulents / Cacti (plants, cuttings, or seeds)
Cold hardy Concord grape plant (the community garden I'm with locks the gate in early Nov, so there's not enough time for a cutting to get established)
Money plant (cutting or plant, I forget the scientific name, I'll recognize it in a photo)
Bonsai plant for indoors (cutting or plant)
Supplies related to growing edible mushrooms indoors

I have lots of random houseplants I can easily take cuttings of. In addition, I hope to get tender perennials from at least two neighbors who don't have room for them indoors, though there's no pick-up date set yet. If I succeed, I'd be happy to share them. My hope-to-rescue list includes mandevilla, coleus, pelargonium, fuschia, and caladium.

Thanks!
