Hi Teresa. I love the ruffled ones. Theses are some that have done well in my garden:

I can't get enough of ruffled irises. I added a bunch last year so hopefully I'll have some nice pictures to post. I wish there were more ruffled dwarf irises, but I'm seeing new ones so that's promising!

Here is my ruffly one, Merchant Marine:



This is a very satisfactory iris. These flowers bloomed on Thursday and stood up to an inch of rain and heavy winds the next day. They folded up today (Monday),
but I have more stalks yet to bloom.

Too early to tell Teresa, I sold a bunch of it last year during my sale, and it will depend on how much bloom I get whether I have any to spare. It's a good grower though.

Andrea, it's interesting that your Merchant Marine is blooming already. You're about 4 hours south of me, but probably warmer. About 3 years ago I planted a bed of 4 or 5 different blue irises -MM among them. None of that group are blooming yet this year. It's a problem telling them apart when they do bloom. Won't do that again!

Here is another ruffled pink that I love. It is supposed to be late but the crazy thing already has a stalk coming. It was one of my last blooms last year. It is pretty though.

Which is why we do what the iris says.

I don't know why Merchant Marine is blooming for me now either. It is supposed to be a mid season bloomer, but it is blooming with my early season iris.
I'm four hours south of you and also not on the coast; I am in the Santa Clara
Valley. I'm in the rain shadow of the coastal hills, so I am sure I got much less rain than you did. It will be interesting to see when MM blooms next year.

Better than Butter is one of my favorite irises. It is my avatar, actually. It is
a very vigorous, heavy blooming iris and is just so cheerful. I love it and I bet you will, too.
