I used to love dogs and hate cats. Then a really cool cat acquired me as a pet. Now I find I prefer the challenge of a cat to a slobbering dog.

Actually, I committed the mortal sin of putting weeds into my compost that had some seeds.
(Small, cold pile.) Then I used the compost as top-dressing over some lettuce seeds.

It's true - that guarantees a huge number of weeds.

Sometimes when "everyone knows something", it IS true.
