Rosie I can't get through A Prayer for Owen Meany, I don't know why...keep picking it up and putting it down again Shrug!
Water For Elephants I loved, and The Book Theif Thumbs up I want to read The Glass Castle. Loved A Discovery of Witches.
The Shining was my first Stephen King, at 13...hooked me. I got an original hardback copy for Christmas last year, oh how I wish it were signed. I vaguely remember The Poisinwood Bible D'Oh!
And oh my "Shanna" with her Rourke Lovey dubby Whistling

Ronnie you READ SHANNA?? I never met anyone that read it!! 👏🏻👏🏻I loved it (but many would look down their nose )

You read a discovery of witches!? Again never met anyone who read it!

I was sorry to end Owen Meany ..it WAS a hard tale to get into but when it ended I really felt privileged to know Owen..does that sound crazy? A fictional character... I feel Owen was an inspired chatacter ..

The Shining terrified me. Like you I was a child and became afraid to be next to my bed in the dark..NO FEET ON THE FLOOR ..I would run and leap onto the bed. It lasted a long time..even after I was married. I still wont hang my hands over the edge 😝😳
I should take another poke at the book thief I guess
You should try to find Edgar Sawtelle
And the ice people..I heard it was to be a movie but no person thought it could be captured on film

I loved Shanna Rosie, read in my 20s, I should find a copy and read it again.

I like Discovery of Witches I too am a fan of witches. I tell my grankids I am a witch and have two handmade brooms to sweep out the bad stuff to prove it. Domenic is still at the age of belief Hilarious! But I truly am a good witch Whistling

Finished Pale Queen Rising by A. R. Kahler. It's book 1 of a 3 book series. Until I was about 3/4 of the way done, I thought I could probably skip the following books. And then it got really good. I will have to plunk down the $4.50 to get the next book. Here is the summary from GoodReads:

As the royal assassin, Claire is used to moving between the mortal world and the Winter Kingdom. When the queen commands her to kill, Claire does the job and doesn’t ask questions. Her deadly skills and loyalty are soon tested when Claire is sent to the Immortal Circus, one of the many places where “Dream” is harvested from the imaginings of mortals. There she must find the culprit who is causing Dream to mysteriously disappear before the Winter Kingdom’s supply is depleted enough to threaten its very survival. But when she meets Roxie, a beautiful mortal singer with a strange link to the Dream thieves, Claire quickly recognizes an odd and unexplained connection that may cloud her judgment. As each new clue unveils another secret, Claire finds herself confronting the riddle of her own buried past—and a dangerous illusion that, as part of the Immortal Circus, is just another act in the show.

I forced myself to finish A Prayer for Owen Meany...the ending was the only part I liked Shrug! I just found it to be rather drawn out and boring.

I am going to read Deep Side of the Ocean again... Read it years ago when working and school and kids... always meant to read again

Rosie, I've had a hard time getting into some of the Jody Picoult books, but I'm reading her "Leaving Time" and it's fascinating and an easy read.

Yes, and had I not read Owen Meany, I would have thought it better! Owen set a high standard for me...but Cider House Rules was a good read.

Liz..I just read this...NOT READ... but read ABOUT it

Written by: Guy Antibes
Narrated by: Ralph Lister
Length: 12 hrs and 15 mins
Series: The Disinherited Prince, Book 1

Poldon Fairfield, a 14-year-old prince, has no desire to rule - his poor health has convinced him that he will not live long enough to sit on any throne.

Matters take a turn for the worse when his father, the King of North Salvan, decides his oldest will rule the country where Pol's mother is first in the line of succession followed by Pol, her only child.

Pol learns he has developed a talent for magic, and that may do him more harm than good as he must struggle to survive among his siblings, who have now turned lethally hostile.
