Fun thread, just found it! Back when the internet was young and my rural area first got dial-up connection, we signed up with a small mom-n-pop server (I could often hear their kids in the background when I called for tech support). At that time, the four of us (me, husband, two then school age sons) were totally clueless about computers but ready and raring to try out this new wonder. We were told to come up with an 8 character password we could all remember. After much stewing, we decided on Bonehead - the required 8 characters, easy to remember, and no question about the spelling. As we worked our way through the sign-up process, Bonehead was mistakenly entered as our user name rather than the password, which we all found ironically funny. So we just stuck with it. I like to think we all have our bonehead moments, and embrace my screen name as a reminder to keep things in perspective.

P.S. Unfortunately, Bonehead is now most often already 'taken' so if you ever run into Boneheadeb on random sites, that is me as well.

This is a very fun thread and I am enjoying it very much.
I chose my name because of my love of Texas native plants and because of the special features of this plant.
This plant is great for pollinators in the Fall, and after a hard freeze the stems burst open and beautiful ice sculptures form at the base.

Frostweed, Verbesina virginica.

Mine comes from my love of real china teacups. My mom's best friend while we were growing up was from England and introduced us to drinking tea. And it really does taste better in a thin bone china cup. I now have several that belonged to them and enjoy my tea in them. Coffee is in real thick mugs we collect from unique diners on our travels, you know those thick ceramic ones.

I had some of those china teacups passed down from various family members but found I don't really like tea, so finally gave them to a woman friend who collected them. She was delighted to get them, and I was delighted to give them. As I grow older, it is rather uplifting to pass things on to folks who will enjoy them more than me, and less 'stuff' for my kids to eventually sort through.

In a few years when I retire we are moving closer to our daughter. Slowly we are going through stuff and getting rid of things we don't need. Though before moving here 12 years ago we moved 5 times in 10 years so got rid of a bunch of stuff. Each time I would pack up the house I got more and more able to look at something and realize I had not used it since the last move so out it went.

I've been in the same spot for 38 years, with a full basement and various outbuildings, so you can imagine how much junk I've accumulated! I have also become the unofficial 'keeper of the memories' - my folks photo albums, military outfits, wedding garb, tools, tools, and more tools, auto supplies, knick knacks, furniture, you get the picture... It's a slow process but we're trying to declutter one small area at a time.

Just now found this thread, too! When I initially signed up on this website, I couldn't come up with a good name... First, it was 'nyc92' (because I moved from NY to CA in 1992). Then, I changed it to 'ducatigirl' because I love crotch rocket motorcycles, especially the Ducati 998 and the Monster models. Then, changed it to what it is now, for all those years I went to culinary school.
