To cold to go container hunting also there is a promise I made to Lynn to check out a Euphorbia. To cold even to dig, my fingers Crying . Yuuuck, Lynn instead of December chit chat you should have named it(thread) the December Blue's, more descriptive.

Arif.

I grew up in terra cotta country, Southern California. I think that is why I love it so much, all the memories connected to terra cotta, even the roofs were tiles with terra cotta. Lovey dubby

Not as impressive as the many ones we've seen of Arif's but may be nostalgic to Lynn and a memento from my life in New Mexico:

It's a terracotta pot with character and the "character" on it always takes away from the potted plant so I leave it un-planted...

Oh Bev, that is marvelous. How long have you had it? I wish I would have had more time to look for some pottery while we were in NM last spring.
I did bring back a couple pieces of talavera pottery. Didn't see any really great pieces of terra cotta, like yours and Arif's in above photos.

Any of your talavera pottery planters? My lizard pots (I have two) have been with me over 10 years...
Much time and great distance are always part of finding those treasures that thrill you for a lifetime. We always gotta keep looking...and sometimes we get lucky if we are at the right time and place.

But sometimes I have had to be ready to grasp information as it floats thru the air: There's a shop in Boulder CO where the Denver Botanical Gardens bought their beautiful, massive frost-resistant planter pots and so my hubby and I drove from NM to CO to pick up two pots for ourselves. Still have them... Smiling

Oh don't tell me that Bev. I was in Denver this spring, and didn't know there was such a place. Do you remember the name of the business?

Hurray! Pictures please, of the Denver pots. Hurray!

Here you go Lynn: Indochine Drooling

Used to be two places: showroom and warehouse. I was told to go to warehouse before. Now it looks like there's a new location for entire store(?) so pots may be at the new location even though website homepage puts more emphasis on furniture/decorative items.

On Google, I found another link which actually contains the word "Pots" and so here it is:

http://www.indochinehomeimport...

These pots have been with me since '02 or '03 and held up in Santa Fe high desert climate (zone 6a). Only thing that the pots could not protect themselves from were the few manhandling moves from NM to WA to CA which resulted in large pot having a crack at the bottom. I need to figure out how to repair it. Large Pot is 2ft high, 24 inches across and no measurements for small pot because it started raining...
I was lucky to find combo of two very similar pots. If there had been more siblings, I would have gotten them. Now I haven't been able to find anything comparable to them. Lynn, you may have to make that trip to Boulder...

I'm so poor with names! (I named my corgi "Bandit" - that should tell ya something!) Lynn, this plant goes outside after freeze warnings, so depends on the year but usually early to mid April, and comes inside in October - so my apartment is spacious and nice in the summer, and packed in like sardines in the winter (I have 2 baker's rack shelves that I place outdoors with succulents and bring them back in, then I have several larger pots!) Hurray! I could name it "Aunt Artica" Whistling

Rolling on the floor laughing Thumbs up . There should be a thriving terracotta industry in Mexico. South California Confused . You know what the problem is Lynn, you have industrialised yourselves a bit to much. You just do not have the time for Artisans and if you have, then the cost becomes prohibitive. Pottery is also a work of art, you require a tension free mind plus a empty belly Shrug! . Empty belly or fasting takes art to new levels. Mexico, Jonna where is he, he should know. Noel's thread, Aroids forum.
Regards,
Masud.
