I ventured out and didn't see any Triffids, so it was a good time to divide all the poor , crowded plants from the January 2012 seeding.

Here are the pots with the results, .

Phew, relieved that you made it back indoors safe and sound, especially since we are getting into the heavy season for Triffid activity.
The seedlings just amazing me. They are little grown-up semps now. And to think we were there from their beginnings. Lovey dubby

I grew a bunch of seeds about three years ago now that I bought online, and then when I went back to look the following year, they didn't have any more. This is the result of the first years seeding:

I save the seeds every year now, and I've sold some online. I figured I should test them to see if they were viable (they look just like dust - how can they possibly grow?) and I ended up with this:

They each had twins...

Hurray! Way to go Jacki. And that first photo is lovely. That is quite a new crop you have going there.
I realized how prolific they are when I didn't dead head the blooms two years ago. Sad
Lesson learned. What I might do this year is sprinkle the seed from each semp on it's own labeled area of a bed and see how that works. Smiling

I don't even know who the parents are, not even one of them. And I didn't write down which bed and area of the bed it came from. *Blush*
They were coming up everywhere. I will never leave seed heads in the beds over the winter.
I'll have to see how it does this winter and next year. Maybe Kevin can tell me how to do the marketing?

I think Kevin has planted a seed. I find myself wondering what it would be like to create a new sempervivum. We'll see.

And also there's the question "does it have enough unique and distinctive qualities to make it marketable?" If the answer is truly "yes" then that may drive your decision! Wanting to get that distinctive semp out there for many people to enjoy! Thumbs up
