@touchofsky

Thanks Valerie,

Already planing ahead to decide what to cross with purple pinwheel and the pinwheel seedling next year. I want to try and get a couple of purple pinwheel x aquamarine pods next year, the only one I had this year looked to be doing okay but then deflated after about 4 weeks.

Would love to get Aquamarine's lovely cool blue/lavender shade on a 'littly' if poss! Have three pods of Star Child x Aquamarine still looking okay so far-- about 4-5 weeks old now.

Wondering whether to try one or both with Honky Tonk Blues and will prob. try them with Star Child too. Everything else pretty much depends upon new ones flowering. Oh, almost forgot about Baby Blues, do you think I should try crossing her with one of these?

The ones I really hope flower next year are Ledgewood Calico Blues, Little Sea Sprite, Little Trooper and Elfin Illusion. Oh, and Child of Fortune and, and, and..... Rolling on the floor laughing

Now I'm feeling bad that I haven't mentioned any of my orange, red, yellow ones!

Tried to get pods on Patchwork Puzzle but was working under the illusion that it is a tet (on the ahs and sellers sites)-- noticed however all its child plants are dips. so will try it with dips next year.

Edited --just talking about Aquamarine and realized that Inever mentioned her in the original post-think she would be classed as bitone. Colour is quite pink in the picture, in real life she is a very clear lavender and bright white (not ivory or cream-proper white).

I had that happen with a number of pods this year, they did well for several weeks, then just shrivelled up. I tried several crosses this year with Baby Blues as a pod parent, and the only one that took was when I pollinated the day before the flower opened. The stigma was exposed. For good measure, I saved the pollen and repollinated the next day when the flower was opened. I didn't have any luck using Baby Blues as a pollen parent. I would try using Baby Blues in the crosses you have mentioned if I were you, though, and I hope they take!

I love all the cultivars you are planning on using Lovey dubby

@Scatterbrain No rules! It could even be one that you don't have, period, but you've been dreaming of having! ......or one that a neighbor, friend or family member has! Smiling

Thanks for pointing out Little Trooper as a bitone--it lives here and I had forgotten about it.

@touchofsky--Valerie, if I have any spare seeds I'll send them on to you.

As well as known crosses I have three pods of Star Child x Unknown (used the jewellery tags for first crosses not thinking about how wet our climate is--they lasted all of three days! Rolling on the floor laughing ) and several bee pods on Chicago Sunrise which I can't bring myself to remove--that thing doesn't half set pods easily!!

However I know that one is Little Fat Cat, One is Baby Blues and the other is Dark Sprite--I just don't know which is which! (The Star Child pods I mean!)

I think I have just two pods on Baby Blues but not sure if they will go all the way, she's not as easy as the others, had a few of hers that started but failed.

Edited--just looked--Baby Blues has 36 child plants registered--maybe I just need to send her to ante-natal classes!

My favorite bicolor is one I haven't seen bloom, Floyd Boatwright's "Deeds Not Words".

I really admired the picture a few years ago, and finally have it, but I'm pretty sure it won't bloom until next year. I was apprehensive, because as far as I can tell, there is only one image of it in circulation, even though it was introduced about 5 years ago. Not usually a good sign.

Hopefully it's an improved, more strongly bicolored Malaysian Marketplace.

Appears that a couple in the parentage of 'Deeds Not Words' might also be considered bi-color daylilies.

Boatwright was clearly working for bi-colors. He crossed 'Deeds Not Words' to a bi-color:

That cross produced a result introduced as 'Holiday Habit' which doesn't have a photo in the NGA database, but the photo submitted with the registration on the AHS link is a bi-color that carries the look in a direction I've never noticed in photos of bi-colors. You should check out that AHS photo.

Boatwright has several bi-colors, but pictures are minimal! I really like Rattlesnake Rake and Glen Gaston, one of his 15 introductions, looks appealing. Thinking about ordering next Spring.

Wish I could get this one--but it won't happen unless the import ban is lifted!

Lovely photo, Floota! Hope that you don't mind me using it. Thank You!
Much nicer than the hybridisers photo.

I will share seeds with you, as well. I am hoping the pods that are set on our plants progress well!
Elfin Blues is gorgeous Lovey dubby

@needrain
Holiday Habit is gorgeous and Rattlesnake Rake is excellent, too.

LOL! I edited my spelling of his name on my initial post because it really irritates to not get someone's name spelled correctly. But after your post I went directly to his web page to view his intros and noticed right off the bat that on his web page the named is spelled 'Boatright' and also 'Boatwright' Hilarious! . Made me feel better about the spelling, anyway.

He does have some strong bi-colors. Since he's apparently a small operation, his intros may not get widely distributed. I'm interested in acquiring a bi-color, but I'm wanting more of a UF or spider than the rounder form. I really like some of the color combos from Boatwright.

As I read more on his website, I saw that bicolors are one of his breeding goals. I wish he had a better picture, and it's not strongly bicolor, but there's something about Granny Brock that really grabs me.

Does this count as a bitone?

I just won a seed cross on LA with this small -flowered (4 inch flower) Bob Faulkner seedling as pod parent.

Thumb of 2017-08-24/Scatterbrain/45bfa8

The pollen parent is 'Master of the Moon' another small flowered one (3.5inch) so hoping for some pink/ purple "littlies" in a few years' time. Crossing Fingers!
